Monday 7th. May : Kings Lynn Town v Slough Town play-off final

Recommended Posts

Brilliant day yesterday. I expect there are a few thick heads this morning !  What a way to win promotion.

Oh Manny,Manny.

Can't believe the attendance was only 2,800.Think they are missing another 1,000, at least.

I hope we can keep this squad together,as they all deserve a chance in the Conference South, for being outstanding in getting us there.

Having said that, if we do have any departures from the squad, I don't think we would have a problem recruiting,as Slough Town FC this season have put themselves firmly back on the footballing map.

I also hope we can keep this squad together but as always, for various reasons, there will be players leaving and players coming in.

What a fabulous day Congratulations to Bakes/Unders the whole squad not only in the game but all of those other players who help gain points through out the season but have moved on.

I felt that Kings Lynn were getting in the comfort mode before we equalised that they had us in there pockets.

But you don.t win your last seven away games with out determination belief in yourself and your team mates bonding skill hard work and a little bit of luck along the way helps to.

Must say before the final whistle went i was blured when I saw player falling down in our the penalty box I thought KL had won a penalty but it was players falling to the ground in jubilation

Our Supporters yesterday showed how you support your team we were all amazing.

Best part coming back to Slough on the Coach was Slough Players Car passing with one of them winding down the window showing the Cup to us all.

The party at Arbour Park afterwards Superb.

Come on Conference South were on our way.

It was Dobbo leaning out of the car window with the cup.

I just had visions of part of the cup coming flying off and being crushed under a cars wheels

We left five minutes after the final whistle in the midst of the KL supporters and didn't see any trouble.  Three police cars went past us heading towards the ground about ten minutes later, so we guessed there was mischief afoot.  But all I can say is we didn't see any.

What an incredible season.

Our playoff experience showed yesterday, we didn’t panic and believed in ourselves to make a comeback. It’s unfortunate that the Kings Lynn fans couldn’t control themselves but thankful they were never going to ruin our celebrations.

Thank you to Neil, Jon and Trent who have done an incredible job on and off the pitch.

Thank you to all the volunteers who make matches possible.

Thank you to Steve Easterbrook without who we might never have been here.

Conference South next season with plenty of new challenges, bring it on !!!

As previously stated the organisation was a bit shabby apart from long queues for tickets the bar was badly understaffed.

Also did anyone manage to get a programme. I was told they had sold out by 2.15. Any chance of a rerun? It would be shame not to have a momento of the day.

Congratulations to the Players, Management ( of which Lee Togwell should be included. I have read that he has introduced some new training techniques), Trust, Volunteers and of course the hardest working ,down to earth Chairman I have ever worked with.

The manager's fetched in three new players just before the transfer window closed. In my opinion this was the shrewdest of moves. They all made a contribution, gave a lift to other players and the supporters and two of them had the added experience to help us through a challenging time with the number of away fixtures.

That defines a good management team.

Thank you Bakes and Unders.

A fantastic day to end a fantastic season. Not many teams at any level could do what we've done!

Manny's goal is something I won't ever tire of watching; the coolness and composure of the control and finish (not to mention the top-class delivery from Dobbo) is simply a joy to watch!

I was told that due to the long queues they stopped doing tickets and went to hand stamps. After I packed up saw their chairman sitting with 3 people despite all the madness going on on the pitch, guess too busy counting cash

They said over the tanoy that a rerun was being done, I was told it was 1-30, still not good.

We were in the line at about 1.30 after getting the 1.21 arriving train and the guy was walking up and down the line selling programmes at that point. I suspect not long after that they probably as out. Then again, it goes to add to the poor organisation of the day by KL.

I was standing near the corner flag entrance end and had a steward jump onto the pitch and stand in front of me around the 40th minute I said to him your blocking my view and how is it you have a number of stewards standing in line corner flag to corner flag behind the goal yet there are none at the KL end oh well not enough were employed was the answer.

Not his fault but I said even if we were losing 4 nil there would be no trouble but I bet there would of been at the KL end if losing 4 nil with no stewards.

Reminded me being at Southport in the FA Trophy semi final 2nd leg with police taking video of us Slough Supporters behind the goal with goading stewards yet no one at the Southport end it was embarrassment.

We then had a police escort leaving the game.

We also had a police escort in 1997 on a Tuesday night a number of miles out leading to and then leaving the Cardiff City ground in an FA Cup replay drawing 1 - 1 in the first game but losing 3 - 2 in the replay.

Another two thrilling games that Slough were involved in.

.

Then there was the Runcorn FA Trophy game in 1976 we all went on a British rail awayday train.

The police were linked from the station to the ground arm in arm as the Chelsea brigade from britwell were expected we lost 2 nil there was a bit of argy bargy after the game back to the station nothing to write about just a great day out.

I have asked them to produce 100 programmes for us in addition to whatever they are doing.

As soon as I hear when they will be available I will share that info.

Bet some of those programmes bought by the home supporters are on ebay by now Kay will have to have a look wa hay.
