Monday 7th. May : Kings Lynn Town v Slough Town play-off final

Recommended Posts

We like going behind in finals !

The difference today to the Kettering final was that we had had such a great season anyway what ever the result . Yet we took today's 63rd game in our stride , finished the stronger side and second half never looked in any danger .

It's all come together in the last few years , the chairman , the managers , the ground. we are back where we belong and we have done it with good football , honest players and a bedrock of support, funding and ambition.

Kettering was sheer raw joy of the unexpected . Today was the sheer pride in a job well done and a result richly deserved .

Can not wait for the fixtures to come out !!!!!!!

yep....2-1 up, so pleased for you.....kings Lynn have an arrogant group of fans.

Thanks, to,be fair the majority of their fans applauded the presentation to the Slough team . Just a couple,of dozen muppets tried to start a ruck . Luckily for them the police and stewards kept them back , and the 500 of us were too busy having a party to worry about them otherwise they might not have made it to school tomorrow .

Best of luck in the North !

Brilliant day yesterday. I expect there are a few thick heads this morning !  What a way to win promotion.

Oh Manny,Manny.

Can't believe the attendance was only 2,800.Think they are missing another 1,000, at least.

I hope we can keep this squad together,as they all deserve a chance in the Conference South, for being outstanding in getting us there.

Having said that, if we do have any departures from the squad, I don't think we would have a problem recruiting,as Slough Town FC this season have put themselves firmly back on the footballing map.

What a fabulous day Congratulations to Bakes/Unders the whole squad not only in the game but all of those other players who help gain points through out the season but have moved on.

I felt that Kings Lynn were getting in the comfort mode before we equalised that they had us in there pockets.

But you don.t win your last seven away games with out determination belief in yourself and your team mates bonding skill hard work and a little bit of luck along the way helps to.

Must say before the final whistle went i was blured when I saw player falling down in our the penalty box I thought KL had won a penalty but it was players falling to the ground in jubilation

Our Supporters yesterday showed how you support your team we were all amazing.

Best part coming back to Slough on the Coach was Slough Players Car passing with one of them winding down the window showing the Cup to us all.

The party at Arbour Park afterwards Superb.

Come on Conference South were on our way.

You really do twist things,Kirk.

I was the one that said form doesn't always dictate who will be the victors in play off games but never did I say that Slough couldn't or wouldn't win.

What is easily recognisable is that you haven't once said what a fantastic job Bakes and Unders have done since they've been at our club, and when you do give a compliment to our team it always seems to be a phoney one and said through gritted teeth.

I know it's not easy getting old and life can be hard but being bitter about things you are supposed to hold dear isn't a great way of endearing yourself to anyone, hence why you seem to have got a lot of Slough fans backs up, on this forum.

Go and take a happy pill, Kirk. It might do you some good.

Great day yesterday with fantastic support. Certainly played the better football in the second half after being a bit nervous in the first I

thought, but once the team started to play the belief came back. Thinking back to all those away games and so many points behind - what a finish from

all the players.

A few things I won't forget, apart from the football of course, was being on the coach escorted out of a town by the police (not happened to me before!)

and looking back on it seeing the funny side of two of the three coaches pulling up on the side of the road, many running out and disappearing

behind as many bushes as could (or not) be found. Must have looked like something from an old carry on film.

Brilliant day

Well done Rebels!  A fantastic performance.

Fully agree about KL's lack of preparation.  I bought tickets online and had no option to join the Slough supporters, so we ended up the tin shed with 1000+ home fans and temperatures over 30C.  As far as we could see there were only three urinals for all the people in the shed and their fans behind their goal.  Getting water was also difficult - there appeared to be just one bar and it took around twenty minutes to reach.

Personally I have no complaint about their supporters though - they made a hell of a noise and created an atmosphere which was very intimidating for us.  Well done.  After the game they congratulated us.  We didn't see any trouble anywhere.

Re the declared attendance of 2850 : it felt considerably more.   Even an hour before the delayed kickoff the turnstile staff were under pressure, in blazing sun, with huge queues, asking questions of each other.  I think lots of folk got in without being counted.

Fantastic team managers supporters and club. What a result and what a season.

Couldn't make it but was listening on radio and was dancing round the room when Manny scored.

Had problems with you tube so listened on BBC Norfolk and whilst they were obviously saying Kings Lynn not at their best and decisions not going their way they were very complimentary about the way we controlled the second half and were the most threatening side.

Funny moment after the game when they were interviewing their manager who gave credit to our managers for bringing on Manny "whose pace changed the game." The interviewer interjected and said Manny was 37 as if he couldn't possibly be pacy. The interviewer definitely wasn't Glen though.

Huge thanks from an ordinary supporter to Steve, Neil, Jon, all the staff, volunteers and players for making this the most memorable and successful season we've had for a very very long time.

Rod, were you at the right game lol

Some of their supporters were police escorted off the pitch with police dogs, one was handcuffed, and when we were finally let out of the ground one of our coaches was damaged. oh and of course the three coaches were then police escorted out of town.

Still we are the ones going up been an amazing season xx
