Monday 7th. May : Kings Lynn Town v Slough Town play-off final

Recommended Posts

The Walks Stadium has a current stated capacity of 5,733 so more than enough room to accommodate the massive bank holiday Rebels invasion of King's Lynn. The gates open at 1 pm so it should be fun.

The first thing I did after I returned home from Arbour Park last evening was to book my train ticket for Monday. Hayes & Harlington to Maidenhead is closed all day but the Metropolitan Line has a good service. I have booked Kings Cross dep. 09.44 King's Lynn arr. 11.21 King's Lynn dep. 17.54 Kings Cross arr. 19.37. £16-75 return with a Senior Railcard.

Weakness : Big'uns v Littl'uns

Michael Gosh, Ryan Hawkins, Toby Hilliard and Tom Ward all tower above the whole Rebels team and can easily dominate a match.

(I hope that I have the names correct but the squad details on The Linnets website only show photographs.)

Strengths : Management

Chairman, joint managers, squad, coaching and administrative staff appear as a cohesive unit.

: The massive Rebels away support.

Stephen Cleeve will be in for a shock if they all come out of the woodwork!

It's going to be a great day out.

As stated above the train line between Maidenhead and Hayes is shut on Monday.

After the game last night we had around 80 names for coaches. I think this will go up but all coach bookings must be made by MIDDAY on Friday or we can't guarantee a seat for anyone who isn't booked.

Get in touch with Mike or Alan to book a place. I'm hoping we can get to at least 3 coaches.

Not a chance Glen, players alone will have 100 plus people up there...... This is a monster game, and probably the biggest game Slough has had in years... in reality it is 130 miles from Slough, not the end of the earth...

I will be shocked if we don't have at least what we took to Gainsborough, but I think more.

Having lost and drawn with Kings Lynn in the league, we are due a win !

They have some quality players but so have we.

I hope from open play, we can work their keeper better than we did last night against Kettering.

We had plenty of possession and joy down the flanks but as hard as Chris Flood and Perry Coles were working, we often didn't find our man, with our crosses. We did put some good balls from crosses into the danger area, both low and high but often our players were nowhere near.

I would like to see our wingers cut into the box on a occasion, and have a shot and test the keeper,as a rebound off a keeper or defender, is ideal scoring chances for our hardworking front men.

Last night Wazza got away from his marker but chose to run wide, when with a bit of daring he could have run into the side of the penalty area and had a shot.

Our centre midfield pairing shouldn't be afraid to have a shot from distance either. You don't want them doing it when we are breaking at speed with plenty of support upfront and out wide but what does it hurt, when nothing looks on.

In the second half last night Scott Davies found himself in a great position to have a crack at goal but played the ball sideways instead, when it looked far better to shoot.

These are minor points but could make a difference in the play off final.

To beat Kings Lynn, we will need to take our creative game up a notch, from what was offered last night.

Our work rate and commitment couldn't be faulted against Kettering but will that be enough to edge out Kings Lynn on Monday?  I don't believe so.

There's no doubt that Kings Lynn will cause our team problems on the day but we have a team that can do likewise, and if we can get our act together, I can't see why we can't overwhelm the odds and do the business in their backyard.

Anyone know what the parking situation is?

I have asked for holiday but as someone who has to work bank holidays I might need to work in the morning....I am booked on the coach but depending on what the boss says I may have to drive if I cannot make 10:30

Glen someone clearly didn’t see the que in the tea room for the coach! Had 2 pages full and that’s just who was there plus those going night before, train, drive etc plus family!

I am just a bit shocked at Their prices £10 for old people and £10 for students we charge £5 that’s mad!!!!!

Fans will need to be ok top form Monday

Que? Don’t get me wrong I hope we take 4,5,600! Just with it being a long way plus bank holiday when family commitments (or chores!) come to the fore, for a few it may prove tricky. Shame they have no terracing and/or cover behind either goal to really get the atmosphere going, we may have to go under the side stands although I get the feeling it’ll be segregated...

They are steep for oldies and students but the plus point is the gate is split 50/50.

For anyone travelling by train from the Slough area, the line is closed between Maidenhead and Hayes on Monday (and between Maidenhead and London on Sunday if anyone is travelling early).

Having looked at Weymouths fan forum it seems that the local King's Lynn youths like a lark or two........
