Great photos as always. That one shows there was contact after the defender played the ball, which was never in doubt. Having watched the video now and from one of the earlier photos in your set you can see that the defender tackles from more of an angle and takes the ball cleanly first. I stand by my initial opinion but, to reiterate, I'm by no means complaining! Just a talking point.

 

The second one, again now seen the video, I think Wells looks for it and makes the most of it but the keeper has himself to blame.

 

The fact there are so many opinions, even with videos, shows that VAR is best not to be used on subjective matters.

 

When you watch the video highlights neither look penalties but when you saw it in real time both looked definite penalties.

Just shows how hard it is for a referee to make a sound judgement, when in the thick of the action, among a throng of players and with a loud noisy crowd.

I think we all found this dude a little odd, but he was enjoying himself, causing no harm and raising a few smiles. Plus it may well be his first game and he could become a regular which we hope the other 400 odd casuals/first timers may too become.

We need a few new characters , lost so many over the years to time or growing -up! Or moving away .

Foghorn , Dave Programmes, Sliski, BFR etc could all get a response from the crowd or the opposition to turn a dull game interesting or a good game great .

I thought the Manny trilby might catch on after Gainsborough , but maybe the sombrero will become a fashion accessory for next season.
