Kettering at home 2nd May 2018 19.45 Play-off Semi-Final

never see a clearer penalty then the second.

Really important moment . If we had missed it would have been worse than not getting it as momentum would have shifted and made us nervous. Well done to Dobbo for stepping up and netting both .

That was the tense game for us. Now we go to KL as the underdogs , they finished higher than us, have home advantage , have bragging rights after they took 4 points off us.

Pressure is all on them.

Well done all involved, great result to cap a great season.....one more to go!!

For my pennies worth, from my angle (in the ref's sight line) the first pen looked like a foul and i could see why it was given. If the 2nd pen was given against us (all be it, the keepers own doing) you'd be fuming!!

Fingers crossed there's big numbers making the journey Monday, the lads deserve it!

Jacko, I think that's with your goalkeepers hat on, as I thought that both were definite penalties but if anything the first one may not have been given,as you could argue that our player was going to ground cleverly when contact was made. Not saying he feigned it but you could argue he knew what he was doing.

While the second one looked a stonewall one to me.

Think it very much depends on where you were standing in the stadium and how clear your view was.

It was fantastic to get two penalties but you can see why Kettering fans will feel aggrieved, as they are bound to blame the referee for their loss.

Hope at Kings Lynn, the referee let's the game flow and penalties don't come into [although I wouldn't mind Slough being awarded another couple,if he's feeling generous !  :D ]

We should have had so many more penalties throughout the season but we're denied them so if you want to complain yesterday's were harsh it is only us getting what we deserve.

Also a bit ironic that kettering Brett Solkhon was inured for this match as he had scored 10 penalties this season

Unfortunately you have to go to ground to get a penalty.

Stay on your feet and you get nothing.

Then our first pen had a touch of evening things up. A strange one, the defender clearly got the whole of the ball but it was from behind, but without going through the man. Would have been angry if it was given against us.

He might mean they aren't a footballing team.  They've got two big centre back and two big forwards and play to their strengths.

In other words they lump it up from the back.

You have not seen Hereford play then? Our centre backs, Green and Libird are certainly not big (Deaman has not played much this season) Smith and Mills are not big by any means , ok "the Beast "(Symons) is a large guy....but he can out pace most defenders in this league......If we did not play football then we would not attract 2,800 + fans and take hundreds to away matches....believe me I know.

One game does not make champions....good football and consistency does the trick, by the way....congratulations for your win, we did the double over Kettering and in general didn't think they were that good...great attack but terrible defence. Kings Lynn is a different kettle of fish....only the second team to do the double over us since we reformed, very clinical with their finishing on the day,(we were 2 up away at half time, lost 3-2) will be a very close game I think. You drew with them at home and lost away in the league... Its anyones games, all the best for Monday.

apologies if you've been fishing......You caught me.

I hadn’t realised with all the excitement last night that James Dobson’s second goal was our 150th competitive goal of the season, in what I think is 62 matches.

That is an incredible achievement, let’s all get behind the lads for the last match, and hope we can cap a superb season with promotion.

Massive contrast between this semi and last years. We had so much more energy, composure, hunger and we saw out the game calmly. Yes we’ll be classed as underdogs on Monday but that may work in our favour especially if we can frustrate them and get the locals restless.

Great photos as always. That one shows there was contact after the defender played the ball, which was never in doubt. Having watched the video now and from one of the earlier photos in your set you can see that the defender tackles from more of an angle and takes the ball cleanly first. I stand by my initial opinion but, to reiterate, I'm by no means complaining! Just a talking point.

The second one, again now seen the video, I think Wells looks for it and makes the most of it but the keeper has himself to blame.

The fact there are so many opinions, even with videos, shows that VAR is best not to be used on subjective matters.
