Swifty
Oh dear. Sadly, an abject and almost shot-free performance to end our home campaign this season. With James and Conor missing through illness, we lacked a cutting edge up front. Though Russ and Mitch in particular challenged for everything (Mitch attacking every ball with gusto), the game was dreadful and had 0-0 written all over it until Tyler fumbled a direct free kick from just outside the box and Paul Hodges reacted way before anyone else and scored the rebound in the 76th minute. Hartley Wintney were horrible, one of the worst visiting sides this season on that showing. Moaning throughout and running the game for the awful ref, who didn't even speak to, let alone card, an away player for a retaliatory headbutt. What with the Marlow fiasco as well, looking forward to leaving the Southern League behind next season. Glad to meet up with Beano and his entourage before the game. I hope they enjoyed the beer at least!
ashford follower
wow abject ? for a start it was a lot better than Tuesday against a team that could clinch automatic promotion , hard to please or expecting to much I think swifty ! with no centre forward we are gonna struggle with goals conor only been back for a couple of games and didn't look match fit and james going on holiday for the last few games these boys are doing their best in difficult circumstances very hard week ahead for this team !! B378
An awful match to watch, neither keeper was really tested.
Swifty
I do appreciate we have a small squad who are punching above their weight collectively compared to some of the teams with more money and bigger squads and, having chatted to a couple of players at an excellent clubhouse gig last night, it appears the state of the pitch has recently become a hindrance to our style of play. It's just a shame the last two home games were on the flat side, and I was seriously more impressed by Thame United on Tuesday.
Tel
Just read Harley Wintney will be promoted even if they lose the FINAL against Cambridge, they have the top PPG for the remaining promotion spot
