Curtis
It was mentioned in the post match interview last night, and I believe has been mentioned in the past, the significant difference in players arriving for a match after a days work as opposed to having a full days preparation for a match. With that in mind, and advance notice of the date of what will be an incredibly important midweek play-off match, will our players and managers have the opportunity to prepare optimally? If it’s a question of players not being able to afford to lose a days pay, would fans be permitted to compensate them through a crowd-funding/bucket collection scheme or would that be against FA regulations? GlenSTFC
I’d be surprised if all the players haven’t already booked this day off as at the time it was looking likely we’d have a long away journey. There’s no way you can leave work at say 2pm get on a coach for 3 hours + and be expected to perform to your very best in what will be the biggest game of the season. Neil Baker
Just so you are aware, we have asked all players to book a half days holiday where possible for the play off semi final game, so wherever we play we will be able to prepare as well as physically possible for semi pro players. I'm struggling to get my head around this notion that fans should contribute to pay players wages. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought when we got a stadium back in Slough, the rise in gate money, corporate investment, advertising streams and those who want to control and finance the club, would be able to take care of players wages. I think Curtis was talking about the players wages for their day jobs.
GlenSTFC
Calm down 3S! Pretty sure it was just gesture of thanks and nothing sinister! As I said all players obviously know if they work and play then a certain amount of holiday time may need to be taken. I’m sure their football wages for the majority would cover a half day taken off work.
