seemgee
FT 4-1 sitting 12th in the league. After the ups and downs of the season you would have taken that 44 games ago, or not?
andyetfc
Good result but had we lost, then we would have been 17th. One game doesn’t make a season.
Theodopolous
If we produce two more games like this to finish the season with we can all lie on the beach this summer dreaming of the play offs next season.... Total football at its best ... Johnson and Blackman superb in midfield... Wadkins showing why he had a good reputation...Blakey running himself into the ground and what a finish by Sam... goal of the season....go on all you spoil sports ... post all the doom and gloom you like I'm going to enjoy this one.... vauxhallman
Sounds as though the boys have clicked. Brilliant. Keep them together and we could be in for something really special next season. Well done Andy and the boys.⚽️⚽️
littlehampton
Who could have predicted that result today? The ETFCofficial website twitter update says " 6 points and 8 goals on the road in a week for the Town as we put in a fantastic performance to earn our first ever win against Tonbridge." Couldn't have put it better myself! What a day, what a week for the Town. Since that little(?)blip against Harrow, in case certain pessimists forget, we are unbeaten in our last four matches, 3 away from home, with two wins and two draws, including a spirited performance last weekend against League leaders Billericay. The season is now all but over, just two matches to play. If Andy Leese can hold on to these players, and add extra strength and quality to the squad in the summer, we can all look forward to next season with a good measure of optimism. Well done to Andy, our players, and loyal supporters, on an outstanding performance and result this afternoon, to round off a really good week for our Club. Enjoy! Up the Town! AnfieldTowner
Credit where its due, that was a really good performance yesterday. I was as down as I've been for some time after the Harrow debacle but the players have responded very well in the last 3 games. I said last week that the table doesn't lie when we were sitting in 18th place in the league - now we're up to 12th! I really had no expectation of a win yesterday and was surprised that, in a game that started with an end of season feel to it, Tonbridge looked like they were going through the motions. Our lads looked like they had a point to prove though - especially Sam Youngs when he came off the bench. Some really good performances all round made the travelling faithful very happy - really pleased to see Brad Wadkins get some reward for his hard work, best game yet from man of the match Matt Johnson in my opinion and that goal from Sam - wow. I was with a friend who lives in Tonbridge and is more used to premiership football and I think he was really surprised by some of the football we were playing. He described Sam's goal as a 'worldy' and if the second one with the other foot had not screamed just past the post I don't know what superlatives he'd have been using. We weren't at all flattered by the 4-1 scoreline. Keep it up for those last 2 games - important to the fans that we finish as high up the table as possible. AnfieldTowner
Should have said last 4 games - forgot about Dorking on the Thursday night so, as Littlehampton says, unbeaten in 4 now.

Theodopolous
Really didn't think a performance like this was in us considering some of the dross I've watched this year... as said in previous threads the talent is in the squad it just needs to be organised and encouraged to play through the midfield instead of hoofing it forward.... hopefully a strong finish may encourage some of the more talented players to stay with the hope of a more successful season to come... Benjrider10
As I monitor from afar, what strikes me is that for the last 8 weeks or so, whatever starting eleven I see either on the website Twitter feed or on this forum, I think to myself "that's not a bad side". Same goes for the bench. Our midfield has been strong most of the season. Blackman, Youngs and now Matt Johnson are a good combination. I hope we can keep Noto too - he's a good player. We've got a good choice of forwards who have different games. Wynter, Blake, Greene and Tyler Campbell are all fast and tricky. Wadkins and Thomas make a nuisance of themselves in the air and provide a different kind of threat. Hope can nick a goal against a tiring defence and has a great footballing brain. No matter the combination, it just took them all (maybe except Wynter) too long to find, then keep wearing, their scoring boots. The defence could be strengthened. I like Bihmoutine and Parcell on the left and right respectively, but we concede too many in the middle. Can Kirby get himself match fit and challenge regularly for a starting position? Purse must be close to hanging up his boots and concentrating full time on coaching/managing. We'll see what happens. I just hope we have a relatively calm off season. It can't be as tumultuous as last season (surely!), not unless the manager decides he wants something different. He tends to stay at one club for a number of years and that, as far as I am concerned, is a good thing. We need continuity and stability, especially as the squad seems to have gelled. And our contribution, as supporters, is vital. We are a supporters-owned club and have to help as much as we can, financially or otherwise. Who knows - maybe that extra tenner a month will make all the difference!
littlehampton
Well said Benjrider10. An excellent, positive, well-balanced posting, which I am sure most fair-minded supporters will identify with. You are absolutely right about the need for continuity and stability. We, as a Club, have had a particularly difficult season, and there have been plenty of negative, disparaging comments made, on this forum, by a few individuals, about our manager, players, Board, and it hasn't gone unnoticed, that those who are quick to criticise, are slow coming forward to give praise and credit, when and where it is due. We have a hardworking, much respected manager, who has assembled a decent squad of players, who have delivered some excellent performances and results over the past few weeks. Most people I have spoken to recently, hope Andy stays with the Club, and moves us forward next season from week one, targeting the play-offs and a strong showing in the major money-spinning cup competitions. We have many good people, Board members and otherwise, putting a lot of unpaid time and effort into making our Club successful, both on and off the pitch. They deserve our full backing, and we need to unite behind them, and remember " it is not what the Club can do for me, but what I can do for the Club."
