8 years ago today, we lost 1-0 to Bury Town in a league match. The substitute goalkeeper for Bury Town that day was Nick Pope, now with Premiership side Burnley and likely to be in the England squad for the World Cup later this year.

It just goes to show that everyone has to start somewhere, I wonder whether we have recently played against any future star who is starting out on their career.

He scored after 14 minutes in the under 23 game at Cardiff, and apparently impressed and was praised by Birmingham manager Richard Beale.

There will occasionally be players progressing from this level to the Football League..... a few years ago it was Ben Gladwin who played for Marlow, and then went on to QPR, Swindon & now Blackburn.
