Stratford away

Recommended Posts

We've booked a 57 seater coach to Stratford on Saturday and it is now FULL.  It will also now leave at 12pm rather than 12.30pm, plus the adult fare is now £15 instead of £20.

You can still book for the coach to Biggleswade on Tuesday, details here: www.sloughtownsupporterstrust.co.uk/away-travel

We go in to this match in good form having won three of our last four away matches, while Stratford appear to be struggling lately having lost their last four home matches.

They were resolute against us earlier in the season though when it finished 1-1 thanks to a 93rd minute goal from Alan Inns, but we won at their ground last season 2-1 coming back from 1-0 with goals from Harris & Adebayo.

So plenty to give us hope of another win, but also enough to be a little apprehensive.

Bookies giving similar odds to our midweek match at Frome.... Slough evens, the draw 5/2, and Stratford 2/1.

A win might put some pressure on our play-off rivals, as Hereford might be tested at home to Chesham, and Weymouth travel to Redditch who beat Royston midweek.

Not pretty and far from our best performance but it’s all about the results and we did that today. Couple of hairy moments where we could have thrown away 2 points but we dug in and got over the line. Plus you have cut the lads a large slice of slack bearing in mind the amount of games and travelling they’ve done and to get 4 wins in a row shows how good our squad is. So hope we can continue with a win at Biggleswade as it’ll set up a cracker v Kings Lynn next Saturday.

You guys are doing very well, so many games in a short time and coming away with the points.third is a great possibility .......second? do us a favour on Saturday against lynn and we will hopefully do you a favour on 21st. What is in your favour, lynn play Kettering on Thursday, only a days rest.

Well done to the boy's, another 3 points at this stage of the season is all that matters.

SB is right, after we play Biggles on Tuesday we have the rest of the week to recover whilst Kings Lynn play Kettering on the Thursday so this must be in our favour.

Not the greatest of games, but with only one side on top, I don’t care how we did it as it was 3 points at a vital time away.

Ref was good other than the spell when she dished out the cards rather freely, but as they went mainly to Stratford it can be overlooked.

Looks like just a few more points and we are definitely in the play offs, in reality we should have enough even now, but now is the time to push and see if a higher place and a chance of a home draw is possible.  We are on form at exactly the right time – keep pushing hard and put the pressure on the other teams.

Special mention to the Chesham fans – Please mind the unsurmountable gap!

Disagree about the Ref , first half blew for the slightest touch and stopped the flow of the game, second half started flashing cards but let other tackles go, booked Lench for a shoulder to shoulder challenge, wasn’t helped by the other two officials.

As said before not the prettiest of wins but if that was the playoff final you’d take it everyday

Great effort given the amount of game, amount of travel, etc. Really dug in today in a pretty poor game and upped the levels in the 2nd half to stamp the dominance gene if it was not reflectd in chances or goals. Davis was excellent second half, I thought, and the best moments came through Lench. Thought Jackman was good and Coles run his socks off.

Agree with PL and 1965, I thought the ref had a good game. Got a couple of wrong decisions but clearly didn't take any nonsense. IMO actually one of the better refs we have had this season.

As for the game, a fairly scrappy affair which we took one of only a few chances created throughout. Worked hard and got the 3 pts, exactly what we needed.

Not about the game all about the run. Given the games we have played recently , that was a top, top result. We now are looking up at what we can grab above 5th. Thought Lench took on the mantle of Dunn and provided the midfield forward drive we lack without him and Wazza put in another full 90 mins of effort , guile and reliability.

Looking good if we can keep the fatigue at bay , keep winning and fly into the play-offs in 5th/ 4th even 3rd!

happy Days

Yes At this stage I suppose all points are vital points but today's win and other results mean only 2 teams Royston and Tiverton can still get into the top five and we have 18 points to play for just 2 will end Roystons push (our GD much superior) and just 5 will finish of Tivvy We really do have an excellent chance of hosting a playoff semi IMO.

All we can do is keep winning, and try to keep the pressure on those above us.

At present, Kings Lynn, Weymouth & Kettering all look capable of achieving 100 points, but will they ease off now they are guaranteed play-off places, or drop points unexpectedly (like Kings Lynn at home to Merthyr yesterday).

The bookies have given the title to Hereford and issued play-off promotion odds:-

Kings Lynn 11/10

Weymouth 2/1

Kettering 7/2

Slough 15/2

Probably a reflection of how they see the final table positions, so if you think we will finish in the top three they are great odds on us.
