Kettering sort of did us a favour by beating Royston 4-1 but only after Royston took the lead and had a player sent off with the score 1-1.

Well done boys great result and onto a tough one at Basingstoke (hopefully it’ll be on as their match was postponed tonight). For anyone who went how did Davies play?

Kettering certainly helped us out by thrashing our closest rivals for 5th spot which now makes it 7 points clear with a game in hand I believe? It’s a healthy gap but still nowhere near safe yet when we still have to play them twice.

Next 2 are tough matches where normally you’d take 2 points but not sure that’ll be enough, if we can get 4 we’ll have done very well. I’m hoping the loan signing (I’m guessing for the remainder of this season) will be another experienced higher level player I’m guessing a defender, maybe a no nonsense commanding sort great at set pieces?

Starting to get repetitive we look fully in charge of the match with chances galore and we conceed...

 

Still got back straight into the game and were deservedly 2 1 up at half time.

 

Second half was all us and we got two more goals but should have been more.

 

Manny clearly motm, did so well they took off their centre back at half time.

 

Pitch was awful. Officials I thought did well.

 

Good three points and happy supporters.

 

On to Saturday for thankfully a closer away game.

Being a loan signing it's got to be a player either not getting minutes at his club or he's coming back from injury and needs game time.

 

I can't see it being anything other than a central defender.

I’d hope the loan player isn’t recovering from injury as this stage of the season we need fully fit players raring to go and not help rehabilitate them.

Sooner or later rather sooner all the early chances that we have been missing over the last Month or so are going to hit the net and one team are going to be on the end of it.

Apart from our missed chances there young goalie last night who would of been going back to School/College this morning did his team proud and pulled of four cracking saves.

At half time at the tea bar I was talking to his Mother only realised who she was after joking with her.

She said how nervous he was when called up to play and said I hope I don.t let in ten goals.

He made two early cracking saves and his confidence grew from there.

Reminded me of a young Trevor Bunting starting out on his career.

Have to say what a superb goal scored by Wazza and just at the right time.

I.m sure one that Dobbo would of enjoyed.
