Long midweek trip to King's Lynn

When you’re without your top scorer, travelling 3 hours+ midweek on a crappy pitch (which we’ve not got results on from various games) against the 2nd placed team then I don’t think I’m the only one who wasn’t expecting a win. Regarding Flood, not sure he’ll even be back on Saturday even if bub has popped out?

Dissent, is that a one or three match ban?

Answering myself, it seems dissent is deemed a minor offence so should only be a 1 match ban.

Is this not Matty's second red card of the season?

Will this not been taken into account when the length of the ban is decided?

If you only read the KL twitterfeed you may believe that it was a very one sided game with KL well on top and the heroics of Jack Turner saving the Rebels from a heavy defeat Luckily the KL official report on their website gives a balanced and more accurate account of the game with a number of Slough chances well described and the observation that we were more dangerous after Lench's dismissal Their manager was apologetic to all players and supporters for the state of the pitch which didn't make it a game easy to play or watch Overall impression is that both sides could have shaded it and KL were relieved to take the points No shame at all to lose to the only team to take all six points from Hereford COYR

Sounds like we were unlucky not to get something from the game but I am a bit puzzled as to why we play 4-5-1 when we have eleven players, and go for it when we have gone done to ten players 3-4-2, and are a goal down?

Kings Lynn on a Tuesday night is never going to be an easy game and I can understand why the managers would think a point achieved there would be a good result.

I don't share the same rhetoric, as I think to become the best team in the division, you should fear no one, and need to go to places like this and win.

To me, Slough are starting to 'take the foot off the gas' as we've let players go prematurely and have failed to bring in suitable replacements.

Only having 3 subs last night, shows this to be the case.

Mentality wise, we seem to have lessened our aims and are now.settling for the also ran spot.

It looks like a lower placed play off spot is the best we can hope for.

Disappointing considering all the hope and excitement we had at the start of the season, with such a well faceted squad of players that had been assembled, for a title shot.

I hope I'm wrong but it feels like our team is heading for the same outcome, as we did last season.

I feel the next 4 matches will confirm to myself if we’re capable of going for 2nd or 3rd or if it’ll be a last day must win to secure 5th. These 4 matches are all winnable against teams mid table or below. I would hope for 10 points with Basingstoke or Biggleswade being the draw.

It would be good if we can get Ben Harris and Alan Inns back asap. Think both could be important players for the games we have left.

I would expect Bishops Stortford to be 3 points although they took the points at Arbour park This was our first game after Rochdale and we had a man sent off ( Smart I think) and an injury to Lench after our subs had been used meant we finished with 9 men Since then BS have lost several players including playmaker Akinyemi recalled to Stevenage and continue to be a low/mid table team Last nights game with Gosport (2-1win) meant it is now mathematically impossible for them to be relegated for a second consecutive season so they've achieved their aims We have much more to play for.

When you look at the remaining fixtures, none of them look easy !

I suppose a betting man would say the Dunstable game should be the easiest, given their form.

The trouble is, it is not just about the team you play, as due consideration has to be paid about the state of the pitches to be played on.

Sounds like Kings Lynn's was awful last night.

St Ives, is a good case in point, a very average side, whose pitch is dreadful in winter. This is a good leveller for a poor team.

Last season we threw away the points to them.

Hopefully, our managers have a plan to address this issue this season.

Otherwise, I can see us coming off worse in a number of these type games in March and early April.

3Spirit I've never seen much evidence that St Ives ground disadvantages visiting teams Yes its poor but for both teams and IMO the better team wins This season they've managed just 10 points at home Not because their ground is poor but because their team is ! They ground share with Cambridge City who are having a good season but doing better away than at home The pitch doesn't help them either and we should pick up the points from a team 22nd as we near seasons end.

The observation that 'we were more dangerous after Lench's dismissal' probably ties in with the fact that we had to throw caution to the wind.
