Is there no chance to swap over the Royston home and away matches and play them at home this Tuesday night? Although it looks like it will be -2C our pitch would still be playable.

I think you've got to put yourself in their shoes Curtis.

Why would they do us a favour and come to us on a freezing cold Tuesday night instead of a Saturday in late April?

We are rivals for a play-off spot so see no reason why they would oblige.

They also have a fixture backlog (other than us they have played the fewest matches), it’s 55 miles, not exactly a long distance for a midweek match in this league, and by switching they would get a Saturday home fixture which would attract a much larger attendance than a Tuesday night match, and make them a bit more money.

It might help us fulfill a fixture but they would also be doing themselves a favour.

Yes but preparations can be made at the time as you’re aware that a replay is possible. Remember we rely on volunteers to put a match on and I’m sure they’d appreciate more notice plus some may have prior engagements. Then you need to think of the Royston players getting time off work at such short notice even if it’s only an hour or so. Programmes to be compiled and printed, catering and bar to sort, I’m sure the list could go on!

I get that you guys want to fulfill the fixtures but surely you'll want home advantage on the last day against Royston if you need it for the play offs (possibly against them for the 5th place).

On the reverse if you need it on the last day then Royston may see it as them benefitting as you'll likely travel in large numbers and therefore a bumper pay day.

Saying that if the snow comes in as expected would Arbour Park be playable - I know Merthyr have had two off this year where snow is laying on the pitch as it couldn't be moved without affecting the pitch and it's crumbs.

Do they not have suspensions including one of their leading goal scorers at the moment? A postponement will mean they will have them available for the rearranged fixture.

I expect to win most games if I am honest, but clearly we don’t, however we will win more than we lose.

As Mark has stated that is a tough run in

Exactly, Neil, we have and, I believe, will continue to win more than we lose.

In points per game terms we are 3rd, one win away from 2nd. Overtaking Hereford will require them to slip up but we're well in the hunt for 2nd or 3rd and a home tie in the play offs.

I'm still in the Ian Dury camp..."reasons to be cheerful"

any one know how the fellow who needed the ambulance is ?

It was Dave Carpenter, and the Club Twitter is reporting that he passed away in the early hours of this morning.

Dave was a long term fan, a club volunteer, and I think he was the matchday sponsor.

Weymouth's Twitterfeed has some current pics of their ground and pitch Really don't think Saturday will be on. Been snowing here in the West Country for hours and Amber and Red warnings are posted for next 24 hrs

Very sad news, R.I.P. Thoughts go to his family.

Just caught up with sad news of the passing of Dave Carpenter whom I knew well from my time supporting Slough regularly in the '60's and '70's. A very loyal supporter who was always ready for a good catch-up chat. RIP Dave.
