Burdy
Thurrock have announced this is the last season for the club the ground is up for sale. Also where does it leave Romford in the future .
urchinman1961
You do wonder how they survive on their low gates which I would presume is the main income shame as I like the ground if only it was in Havering
Wivenhoe Urchin
Yeah plus aveley now having a much nicer new ground has probably taken some of the Thurrock home support away
cup of tea
Not sure what would happen there. Grays are already at Aveley - Tilbury or East Thurrock for Thurrock? As for Romford, I really don't know where they could go next - Hopefully the suggestion of Hornchurch doesn't come up.
Urchin Nutter
Apparently he’s selling the whole lot, club, hotel and grounds
Urchin Nutter
Grays must surely have a sniff around that
cup of tea
Have Grays got any money left? If so that’ll be the solution for them.
Wivenhoe Urchin
Is Mick Woodward still with grays?
Old Codger
The whole site is for sale including a large area of land behind one goal up to the M25 and the pitch behind the covered stand. A substantial sum of money would no doubt be involved. The chance of anybody just purchasing the football club portion would seem remote and the latest rumour(!) is that the site could be sold off as a lorry park but who really knows. Thurrock football club will cease to exist at the end of the season and Romford will have to find another groundshare if they decide that it is actually worthwhile soldiering on. A sad situation but probably inevitable as Thurrock has always really been a one man club with the South family putting in huge amounts of money over the years for a club with minimal support in a poor location. Woodward left Grays many moons ago. The hotel is not part of this deal as this was sold by the South family some years ago.
Jago
Thanks OC. Are you a Hornchurch supporter or just passing by?
Old Codger
I am a Hornchurch supporter and was at the game on Saturday. I though the Tilbury equaliser was actually a pretty crisp shot into the corner and hardly a fortunate goal. Thurrock has always been my second port of call since they got promoted to the Isthmian Premier Division in the mid nineties. As a Hendon supporter said at their last home game,"a very good ground but what a dump with nothing anywhere nearby".
