GOOD NEWS...

so..ricay have just got money..Hmm.. well, lets think, prime development land in rural essex, town with a train link to london, space to build houses..Already previous uncertainty about ground, what would aspiring-middle class ricay residents have..a football team or a health club & houses...given that it would be easy to relocate a team thats relegated by May, especially as billericay is run by basildon council, the same council thats trying to promote the town, they would give Gloucester Park to BTFC...be worried.... At least our bloke puts his money where his mouth is.

I only know what I've read in the Echo about Mr.Kent and have yet to meet him, but I simply can't thank him enough for the "good news" he has delivered today to BTFC. As someone who was very publicly and very strongly anti-GP, this is fantastic news and I am so overjoyed that we shall be staying at New Lodge and that one day I may yet be able to stand side by side there with my new son watching the team we support together in its rightful home. Unless of course he has no interest in footy and wants to become a ballet dancer or something....

Anyway, I would urge all those fans like me who drifted away from total commitment to come back NOW and do as much as they can to help Mr.Kent keep Ricay where we belong, not just geographically but in the Pyramid as well. Let's all "get behind the blues" again!

i think you'll find rushy that the stadium is a damn site 'primer' in the 'prime land' stakes.. and its so much easier to get a nationwide club moved to some industrial site off the 127 due to residential concerns.. thus realising some really expensive land.. said club can then be left to rot..

I can't help wondering this:

If GP was that intent upon "ruining" BTFC [as some have claimed] why would he sell the club to Kent for £300k? Surely the land price of New Lodge alone would be worth more than this? Avg price of house in the south-east is around £220k-£250k. How many houses/flats could be on the New Lodge plot? Taking into consideration construction costs [they sling 'em up these days!] surely a better profit was to be had in redeveloping the ground?

Not wishing to protract this sorry affair, but no doubt someone will address this daft question...

I agree it's right to keep Justin. However Mr Kent should also consider John Kendall as say, Director of Football. He would make a great partnership alongside Justin. Noone knows more about this level of football than Kendall. He is well known throughout the game, including at the FA. He is also great at wheeling and dealing for players. He would complement Justin's coaching skills perfectly.

An added bonus is that his heart and soul is in BTFC

In all sincerity I am pleased that the future of Basil... sorry, Billericay now looks much more secure than it did a while back. Obviously there is rivalry and banter between our two clubs but that's the fun side of things. To have another Essex side high in the new pyramid is serious good news. Football clubs need to be in the town after which they are named. I'm sure Chelmsford fans would agree with me there.

Let's hope the positive vibes that I detect running through this thread translate themselves onto the football pitch and the team can pull itself up into the playoffs.

Good luck lads.
