Perry Coles

He was the Farnborough player that impressed me most in the two games against them and ironically, a loan deal for him would have been a good solution, considering the Harrison Gilkes situation.

Anyway, that's not to be, so no point dwelling on it.

I wonder if we wiill rush Chris Flood back, as his head cut was a nasty one?

As previously said according to Floody, on twitter I think, he's now ready to play again.

First of all, obviously delighted that Perry has signed. He is keen to progress, will bring a real hunger with him and is joining us for all the right reasons.

I do want to say a couple of things to those who think we are in a position to sign anyone we want, just because we are Slough Town, as it’s important to manage people’s expectations.

1. A good number of the top players at this level or above are on contracts and therefore we can’t go near them. We were lucky with Perry, he had been offered one but hadn’t agreed to sign it when we made our move.

2. More importantly our fixture list is turning out to be more of an issue than we ever imagined. The other two players we have approached have both turned us down today, not because they weren’t interested (quite the opposite) but because with at least 7 midweek away games to play, a number of which are a long distance away, it’s impossible for them to commit due to the time they would need to take off work.

Not what people want to hear but it’s the way it is.

Thanks for the info, Jon. Of course, all fans want to see the best possible players at our club but most are realistic on who we can actually get.

Perhaps we should put in another six 7 day approaches, that way we might be able to secure a couple ! ha ha !

I don't think wholesale changes are required either, just a shot in the arm which is hopefully what Perry Coles will provide (that and the return of Simon Dunn and more minutes for Harrison Gilkes and Gavin James so they can play a big part in the remaining games).

The trouble is Simon Dunn is still injured and is not the same player on heavy muddy pitches,

Harrison Gilkes is definitely worth keeping but big ask to expect top notch displays after such a major injury.

Gavin James has been a mixed bag, in terms of form and goal scoring. Definitely needs more game time but isn't the answer to every game we have remaining.

One or two in after the Banbury game which will mean one or two going?

It’s only 1 in as the other 2 turned us down. Not sure any would be let go unless the player actually wants to leave. That’s not to say we may still be on the look out for more signings.

Glen,if there are two more signings, what positions would you strengthen?

But there aren’t 2 more?

Well, there would have been but they have turned us down !

So that means to me that Bakes and Unders aren't entirely happy with certain positions and wanted to strengthen areas with new players.

Unless it was all bluff and bravado to appease fans.

Good Luck to Perry and really pleased to see him move to a "proper" team !

Scored for fun with us and was a loss.  Works his socks off, annoys big defenders by getting in and around them, excellent movement, chases lost causes and scores goals.

Good Luck Perry I hope you are a huge success at Slough.

Sounds a bit like a Lee Barney type of player.

Would still like to see a big nr 9 who could "bully defenders" and get involved in dead balls into the box and some of the high crosses from Dobbo and Wazza ie Jefferson Louis who has 18 goals for Banbury/Chesham and who is obviously comfortable playing on crap pitches.

I was really hoping Spency might have done an interview about losing Perry and pleading poverty as usual stating they offered him an extra packet of crisps but they were blown away by Slough’s 7 figure weekly wage offer. He doesn’t seem to like interviews as much especially when his team have been trounced. I’m sure Perry will have many stories to tell.
