Redditch 6th February

If any game can get us functioning coherently again its this one. Redditch are currently 24th out of 24 in the away form table over the last six games and have amassed 0 point out of 18 achieving this Another team that travels poorly 11/45 points away all season Earlier in the season we were very comfortable 1-4 winners on their patch which they will remember so IMO we SHOULD take the points and get back on track Now I await the rebuttals!

Well let me think, based upon all known facts I definitely think it will a 'tough game' because as we know 'there are no easy games in this division'   ;)

Seriously although Redditch don't seem to be in great form they do have some good players namely Ashley Sammons and Stuart Fleetwood so it won't be easy despite as you say their away form isn't good.

So in normal circumstances this would be a game we'd expect to win, it's definitely a game we need to win to get back on track. Confidence will obviously have taken a knock on Saturday so  the steps seem pretty simple to me

  • the mangers need to do all they can to rebuild confidence ahead of the game - I'm sure that will be a focus for them
  • the players need to commit to the game plan and bravely play in the way we know has brought us results at home but also respond to the setup Redditch will bring
  • the supporters need to get behind the team as when your confidence has taken a knock that's more likely to help than getting on players' backs

Simples...to say, not always as easy to do

The only thing is from Saturday to Tuesday's game there's no training, so hard to iron out any problems from the Tiverton game.

Completely different games anyway, so it's not like we need to focus on what happened at Tiverton.

I think Slough can get back on track by beating Redditch and Banbury on Saturday but neither team are the easiest of opponents and we will have to be at our best to do it.

Chris Flood is a huge miss and his injury has come at a bad time for us.

It's likely to be an untested pairing up front for Slough but as we are a team with goals coming from all over the team, think we can ride our luck with this issue.

We play far better at home than we ever do away, so I see no reason to doubt our lads coming up trumps for these games but both games are not formalities, so we shouldn't expect us to win easy or garner the 3 points at either.

We need 6 points but I can see it more likely being 4, or heavens above, only 3 !

3 Spirit. I share your concerns re Banbury They've won 9 games away this season second best tally in the league so I do hope we can start playing again as we did early season when we were good enough to beat anyone home or away!

Redditch were so poor at the back. At least four free headers allowed us from corners. The number 5 had no idea how to defend and showed little interest in making up for it with any effort and the number 6 did try but was totally hapless. The left back could barely take a throw in. Was shocked at the standard in truth.

That's taking nothing away from Slough who managed to do what we have struggled to do in recent weeks and put the game beyond our opponents when dominating, The injury to Ben Harris, hamstring it looked like, was the big blow of the night, especially with Flood out and Wadkins gone. Gavin James did well though, looked lively and some nice touches. I particularly enjoyed the performances from our full-backs. I've always been impressed with Jackman when I've seen him and Wellsinho has quietly gone about establishing himself as a stand-out player.

Good performance. Redditch did not put up much of a fight, but Slough were convincing nonetheless. Fingers crossed we can build momentum with another good showing on Saturday.

Really enjoyed Gavin James' performance. Linked up well with Warren well for the second & third goals. Hopefully he also gains confidence in front of goal.
