I really thought we’d win this one! Very disappointing result, was it as comfortable as the score suggests? You can’t blame the pitch as both have to play on it, we’re they just better on the day? With the other results around us would anyone say top spot is out of reach now? I know we have games in had but being realistic we’re not going to win them all. As much as second place is the aim we have to go on a continuous winning run to have a chance.

Unfortunately I think we all have to agree with Jon’s assessment in that top spot is out of reach and it’s now about firstly getting into the PO’s and then as high up as we can. I think we need a couple of players in sharpish to boost us and push us on so we get too 5. I think it’s obvious we need a leader out there too someone who’s maybe a bit of a bully!

Not sure why, Tiverton have a very good home record of 10 wins a draw from 14 home league games.

OK both teams have to play on the pitch but surely certain conditions suit some teams more?

Losing to Tiverton in a horrid winter conditions is hardly the worst result. Not scoring is a worry, though.

I hope we replace Brad Wadkins with a big, strong centre forward who can head a ball well and willing to get  in the thick of it.

In the Slough Express it was mentioned that we had put in a seven day approach in for a player,so I hope this is the first sort of player that comes in

From Unders post match assessment, sounds like we did well first half but got caught napping second half, and was always up against it going down to 10 men, so I don't believe we should press the panic buttons just yet.

That said, I think we may have to stretch our budget to add another midfielder to the mix and perhaps let one of our under performers go out on loan or leave the club, just to tweak our line up a bit.

Sad to say but that was dire today, apart from that early chance that hit the post that was about it, outthought and outfought  Tiverton kept it simple on a very heavy pitch playing a long ball game while we played a short ball game and kept getting stuck in mud,and putting endless crosses  in box that we got nowhere near.                                                                                                                                                                                                                      It now looks like a top-two finish is beyond us but playoff place is there for taking.

Tiverton were one point behind us yesterday before the game so don't understand why some thought it was an expected win, Glennie!

We started the game well enough and in my opionion were well on top. It was hard going on that pitch and yes I know its the same for both teams, but they were at home and had to be more used to it than us, but I'm also not saying that's why they won.

Perhaps if some of you were at the game yesterday you might have different views.

And you might also have seen poor Chris get a head injury that needed 8 stitches so hope he recovers soon.

Nothing to do with league position but form as I pointed out. They lost their last game 0-6 to mid table/nothing to play for/financially stricken Basingstoke!!! Anyway what’s done is done and if we can win our next 2 at home and hopefully bring in some tough leaders then maybe we’ll be ok.

With our current form we are not going to be in contention.

In our league games since the start of November we have picked up 17 points from 11 games to give a points per game ratio of 1.545, which would put us 10th in the league on that form.

Fortunately we had a good start to the season and our points per game is 2.04, but a change in form is required to bring us back to that of the earlier part of the season if we wish to remain in the playoff hunt.

Not very positive, but factual.

Being pedantic it was 6-2 and Basingstoke are a bit of a maverick team who have won 4 out of their last 6 including beating Kettering.
