v Merthyr

I have to agree with RR. I've read several different reports of their game with Kettering both reporting how many chances they missed that could have changed the result.Having sorted their immediate financial problems they are playing relaxed football They know they won't be relegated and they know those few months of turmoil mean they won't be top five Some times teams with nothing to play for are the most dangerous We very much do have a lot to play for and I think we'll prevail.

we just have to play our game and not allow ourselves to be pushed in to long ball football, short one touch passes should be the main order of the day,it's what we are best at,and be ruthless in front of goal, if a chance arises then for god sake  take it , even shoot into a crowded box you never know where a ricochet will take the ball and also when they have the ball lets get in their faces , don't give them time to choose the pass they want to make, force them into a pass they would rather not make. not only will it lead to an exciting game but imolead to a successful outcome.

That was hard work against a questionable ref - does he know what a handball is?

We were always top, but had a few off spells and they took their chances.

Not sure how some of their players did not pick up more cards especially 15 who lost the plot in the last 10 mins of the game.

A very good rememberance for SUPER KEV and when his song was sung the boys picked up the play.

Also hope Keith is ok after his wobble.

What a rollercoaster of a game! First half an hour we could have been 3 up. Merthyr then come back into the game and perhaps undeservingly go ahead. Luckily we had the resilience to keep going and l got our rewards just in time. Not a fan of us taking penalties and when Lench’s got saved I was about to explode with expletives until smashed home the rebound! Very important win with all the others around us winning. But we do need to be more clinical and/or our games to bed when we’re in command. But I think that’s now 8 unbeaten.

One of those games we could have come away from ruing a raft of missed chances ending up costing us, but thankfully we come away saying "wow we made hard work of that one".

Its remarkable with the attacking talent we have in the team that we domt score more of the chances we are making (hit the post twice, 2 superb saves, 1 cleared off the line, a disallowed goal for offside and 2 missed pens to name but a few). The thing im pleased about besides the result is that we are still creating the chances. We need to just get that clinical edge to pur finishing and i dont think any team can stop us.

Th biggest concern for me is the way we are letting our goals in. Those near post crosses and corners cause us all sorts of problems weekly and along with our composure in front of goal i think this is something Neil and Jon really need to look at.

Much better to be sitting here after anoyher nice 3 points though, i wonder what the 2nd half of the season will bring LOL!

Never straightforward against Merthyr is it .

The change in formation looked fantasrptic for the first 30 mins , early goal well taken by Lench and a host of other chances. Bur we could not get the second.

How many times have we heard the managers complain that we did not take our chances in games this season , and against all levels of teams . Then two missed penalties !

We really seem to have a mental block about being clinical . We score for free on occasions but blow out big time when it comes to crucial moments. If lench had not got the rebound I think it would have been physiologically damaging to the rest of our season never mind the dropped points.

Top moment was Dobbo scoring during Kevs applause.

The formation was a diamond which was the same as Tuesday against Bracknell.

Being at home I think most people expected Dobbo and Wazza to start but it seems that Dobbo is still carrying a bit of an injury.

Essential 3 points today All the top six clubs won and we move to fifth one of 3 clubs on 50 points Apart from Hereford the 3 clubs above us have played either 30 or 31 games so still very much on for top 2 placing

It is still on for a top 2 placing based on our games in hand but as we all know and can see getting those points is easier said than done.
