Shredding Green
Player manager Alf D'Arcy came from Enfield, followed by several of their players including outstanding goalkeeper Ian Wolstenholme. Keith Mead was a wonderful defender who came from Walton & Hersham. Roger Day attacked an Oxford City player in our 1-0 FA Amateur Cup victory on 13.1.1974. I was sitting in the stand with a neighbour right in front of the incident and literally saw a tooth fly out of the Oxford player's mouth. I remember Tim Turl as well. Sorry : Roger Day didn't play in that match! It was the 3-2 FA Amateur Cup victory against St.Alban's City on 29.1.72 and he scored two goals after he should have been sent off. David Carpenter
I agree with SG - it was against St. Albans and as per my previous post to my best memory the player Roger Day gave one to was Rafferty and this'll resulted in a court case. Kaiser Gibbs Batman (KGB)
It was an exceptionally strong St Albans team which, although without their first choice goalkeeper, included John Mitchell who went on to play for Fulham. The injured party was Bill(y) Ratty. The match is recalled, from the point of view of an away fan, in the book "My Favourite Year" edited by local author Nick Hornby.
