V St Ives 13th Jan

Shame as it’s now a long midweek away fixture to add into later in the season probably March. Although by then the pitch possibly won’t be as cut up and we’ll have a fully fit squad. Let’s hope some of the other results go our way and Hereford draw in the trophy and win the replay.

A bit of wishful thinking there with the 'we'll have a fully fit squad'

The only problem is Cambridge ground share with them so the pitch does not get much time to recover.

A bit contentious but if a club has a reputation for bad pitches should the league have any authority to stop ground sharing at the start of the season?

Almost got what you wanted. Hereford have Gosport on Tuesday when we have Dorchester. Would be a major surprise if Hereford did not get all 3 points.

Tend to agree with you BR.

Our game with St Ives was the only game off in the Southern Prem, East and West.

As we know their pitch is notorious for being possibly the worst around and the league let another club share with them, this cannot be right.

Kings Lynn, Weymouth and Kettering all drew today which is certainly unexpected and very well received from our point of view.

It's a really strange position we find ourselves in. Yes it's good those three all drew but they did not lose which is the sign of good sides. We have dropped further back in the league but still the task is the same , win at home draw away and we are right back in there . If we had played today and not won I'm sure all would be doom and gloom yet a point would have been a ' par shot'.

Going to be a tough few weeks but I would still not swap our position now for anyone's except Hereford.

There's a very simple answer to that. If we're not playing catch-up like we are now, then there was no great cup run. If you really wish we had points on the board then you're saying you don't want us to have the cup runs.

As we had Gainsborough, Rochdale, huge sums of money given to the club and TV appearances... I'd rather be playing catch-up.

Yes I know why we’re behind with games and no I wouldn’t want that to have been different. I’m saying in general terms I’d prefer points rather than playing catch up. Obviously it depends, if we had 6 games in hand and say 6 points behind then you’d take that option as opposed to 20 points behind and 7 games.

As your on about points on the board then 20 is 15

It’s a lottery with playing catch up isn’t it? Yes we could win them all and sit smug at the top or we could go on a bad run and be desperately trying to grab 5th spot! We can only wait and see what develops and what will be, will be. If we can’t finish first then we certainly have to aim for second as home advantage would be vital in the PO’s.

Personally I think it’s a fairly simple equation...... in a league where all clubs are competitive you need 2 points per match to have a chance of competing for the title (46 games, 92 points).

When clubs aren’t competitive (averaging less than a point a game) you need to get all 6 points against them...... four sides in our league are not looking as though they are competitive, so we need 24 points from them and 76 points from the other 19 clubs.

Therefore, as long as you think we can achieve 100 points this season, we are in with a shout of the title, if at any stage we slip below an average of 2 points per game then it will be extremely difficult to catch up.

I don't think anyone is saying they wouldn't have wanted the cup runs that we've had.

Just stating a fact that the vast majority of the time (there are obviously always the exceptions to the rule) points on the board are more advantageous for all the obvious reasons.

BTW technically the money from our cup runs is not the clubs money.
