Hereford Game

Thought I'd start a thread for us to discuss the game rather than segregation issues.

My thoughts are that it will be a tough game but we should not forget that just a week ago we utterly outplayed Farnborough and it is not that many games since we comfortably beat Weymouth.

I'm hopeful for a tight Slough win.

On our day we can beat anyone in this league (and above!). It’ll certainly should be a tight match but I’m confident we’ll get at least a draw. Just hope the likes of Dobbo and Lenchmo are fit enough to be on the bench and hoping Jack is fully fit?

I hope Dobbo is fit enough to play, along with Wazza.

Even if Lenchy is fit he definitely won't be in the starting line up but as you say hopefully on the bench.

It looked like Brad Wadkins came off against Chesham with some sort of injury so we could see the home debut of Ben Harris.

I think Ben should start given his lively debut, great goal and the form of our other strikers. Not sure I’d agree if The Lenchmo was fit not to start him. Yes you could argue if it was fair but let’s be honest he’s one of our best players and this is one of our biggest matches of the season and you surely would want your best team?

I can stop the discussion on Lenchy now, as he will not be in the 16, he arrives back into the UK at 7 in the morning on Saturday after travelling for 24 hours and will have jet lag , he was also injured with his ankle injury before he went away, so we would need to see that is fully recovered first before we are willing to risk him, the last time he kicked a ball was against Bishop Stortford on the 9th of December.

He will train and be available midweek.

Thanks Neil, obviously we want Matt back fully recovered both from travels and injury - just see our keenness to have him back as confidence in him and the options he presents.

Very difficult game to call I don't believe the spectators will make much difference Almost 2500 Hereford supporters present when we beat them at theirs and only about a tenth of ours tommorrow and that ratio didn't help them Tomorrow will be about which squad has more confidence and self belief since we know how talented our squad is when mentally up for it We must remember that neither team has even reached the halfway stage of their season I hope we win tomorrow but defeat won't be a disaster and victory won't mean anything more than 3 more points towards our final total I believe if we turn up determined we will just edge it but consistency has been missing recently so let's see which team turns up.

Don’t agree with its either just a defeat or just a win. A defeat would set up 12 points behind Hereford who the majority believe will win the league. Even winning the games in hand on them, 6 points to make up would be difficult. Whereas a win could put us level if we win those games in hand and would be a massive confidence boost which could then keep us on an unbeaten run.

Think you are both agreeing from different angles !

It won't be the result that is important today it will be the reaction to it . If we lose but then go and win the next 5 on the bounce will that be a bad thing?

Equally what if we get a fabulaous win today then lose a couple and draw some in the rest of January.

Over the years , How many times have we won 'Big ' games only to have exhausted ourselves mentally then go and fail to turn up for the next 'easy' game.

Our season won't be determined by 5pm today but might well be heavily signposted!

Good luck to you if you think we can be champions,we wont even make the

playoff's for some reason we cannot see a game out when in a very good position. And could someone explain why we disrupt the team with changes when those on the park were doing fine.

Gutted. Feels like a defeat but those assessments are very harsh.

First half was a scrappy affair which I felt we edged and we scored a lovely goal from a whipped cross.

Second half we were in total control and scored a magnificent goal. The throw from Jack to Wells who motored down the line and delivered a sumptuous cross was a work of art.

Seven minutes of injury time was a surprise to me. Yes there was a lengthy head injury but it still seemed excessive. It was the only spell where we lost control as we sat deep and let them pen us in. We couldn't get out of our half and were severely punished.

My only criticism was that I thought we were a bit quiet on the pitch and we needed someone to literally drag us down field.

Plenty of positive performances and good things to take from the game.

Yes it is disappointing to drop points in injury time and we might need to look at game management a little in tight contests. But play like that over the next 4 months and we will collect lots of points. COYR

Comfortable at 2-0 and on our way to a great victory but as soon as 7 minutes injury time is announced we switch off! Absolutely gutted how we’ve thrown it away again. Plus they had 10 men for 15 odd minutes just to rub it in!!! There were a few chances to stop their players from getting into shooting positions. With the other results (aside from Kings Lynn) going our way a win really would have set us up nicely. No one can deny that’s 4 points lost in the last two. Sorry it’s all negative and there were positives it’s obviously just sickening to have victory taken in that manner. With the next 5 league fixtures against mid table and below we need to win a minimum of 4 to keep alive our top place ambitions.
