Hereford Game Segregated. Maybe Not?

Ok I am going to have to say this, but don’t expect the same level of football played home to be the same away.... you are able to play nice attractive football at home on the 3G, and will be able to all season in reality, away games especially at this stage of the year and heading to the end of the season when pitches are hard and bobbly, it requires a completely different way of playing.

This is what we have to adapt to, but these games are in the whole battles, with a lot more of the ball in the air, trying to get in good areas.

It would be different if we were playing on billiard tables all season, but that is just not the case.

We were doing our passing drill pre Chesham game same as what we do every week in the warm up, and at home the ball moves so fast and rarely is not under control, fast forward to Chesham, and people are struggling to keep it moving fluently unopposed as the pitch dictates that.

Obviously that will not be the case for every game, but the vast majority.

So maybe readjust your views on what is a good performance away from home to what we get at Arbour Park.

We were one minute away from a perfect away win Monday, going away from home is about being tighter, and trying to keep clean sheets.

Again thanks for coming onto the forum to explain. I entirely agree with you, we dominated possession but you could see that Chesham's packed defence and the irregularity of the pitch affected us many times - I can think of 3 times Floody was past a defender and had to check back because the ball bobbled so lessening the attacking threat. We were so near to grinding out a good 3 points.

Hereford also bitching about Wealdstones decision to make their Trophy game fully segregated Wealdstone will be employing a private security firm to maintain order and conduct searches etc. A mobile catering van will service the Hereford fans and they will have no access to the clubhouse There will be no alcohol sold or consumed in the stadium during the game or half time

Just read we’ve given Hereford another 100 tickets which they’ll obviously sell within minutes. Shame in a way as it seems we’re obviously struggling to sell the numbers we’d hope and now we could well have the same amount of support Saturday which would be very disappointing.

I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion that this is because we are struggling to sell enough ‘home’ tickets.

I think it’s a pretty easy conclusion Matt. Why else give them more? The club knows we’re not going to sell out or near to our allocation so that’s why. With 700 noisy away fans it’s certainly going to give Hereford an advantage but on the flip side it’s up to us Slough fans to better them in all aspects. Anyway looking forward to what should be a cup tie atmosphere.

Yes, Hereford are a big club in terms of history etc.... but there fans on FB, Twitter and message boards coming across arrogant billy big b******s makes them more disliked by most non league sides they keep slating (although in the same league as said tinpot sides). They will go up, whether this season or next, be interesting to see how they do or whether they balls it up again like they did with the previous Hereford team that went bust.

Regarding tickets sold, I do think if it was cash on day, more people would have turned up as spur of the moment thing.

Either way, I will be there :)

Looks like this is all getting blown out of proportion, they are just another team in this league who are floating around the top, we have beaten them once at their place, so they are beatable and should be treated with the same respect as any other team.

On our day we can beat anyone, but at the same time we have off days.

We have taken 3 points off them already, the most they can take off us is 3 - so worst case its all even, but if we win or draw we come out top.
