v Stratford Town

Agree, Stuntman Mark, frustrating game today. No lack of effort from our lads but struggled to carve out many clearcut chances.

Brad Wadkins had one of the best chances when through on goal but inexplicably decided to square the ball to another player rather than shoot. I'll put that down to rust. Didn't really happen for Brad today, with him and Manny both struggling to influence the match.

The service from midfield wasn't at it's the best either. To me, Matt Lench was a big miss today.

Simon Dunn didn't have a good game IMO but as usual Nathan Webb was the one who made way. I thought Nathan was beginning to get into the game when we subbed him. Must have been a tight call who we took off, as neither of them had hit the heights they can.

First half possession wise Slough dominated but Stratford probably had the best chance to score.

Second half we huffed and puffed and over rushed play but couldn't find a way through a crowded Stafford penalty area until Alan Inns popped up with his unlikely late equalizer.

You have to think it's two points dropped against a largely ordinary Stratford team.

Definitely a deserved point but not enough creativity and adventure to trouble the opposition. Will need to be better against Farnborough.

Agree and disagree with some of the above.

Definitely thought Brad Wadkins looked rusty and not at the races.

I thought Dunny was our best midfielder, always involved and looking to make things happen whilst Webby started brightly and had a reasonable first half but for me he became less and less involved as the game progressed and for me it was the correct decision to sub him.

Agree totally that we are missing Matt Lench big time.

Yes worrying loss of confidence affecting most of the Squad The Stratford manager in his post match interview is quite clear that had we taken first half chances we would have been out of sight by half time Clearly pleased to have come away with a point Neil in his post match comments stresses the importance of putting a winning run together and there is some light at the end of the tunnel in that regard We do have a couple of potentially difficult games coming up but after the home game with Hereford we have a run of 7 games all in January where the current positions of the opponents are 14th 15th 16th 18th. 20th 21st and 22nd We should be able to put a mini run together from the tail end of the table.

Irishadrian, not sure if you mean Stratford or us were pleased to come away with the point?

Do you mean 'there is some light at the end of the tunnel in that regard' because we managed to get a draw yesterday?

As I've mentioned on quite a few occasions the position in the league table of the opposition means diddly squat if we don't perform as we know we can.

The truth of the matter was if we had gone in a couple of goals up, then we would have been talking about a very good first half with some good football, and not talking about time wasting, formation, players etc, that is the be all and end all with football games... winning them, so any positives that might be out there are just forgotten....

we have not lost the game, we have only lost one more and drawn the same amount of games of Hereford who dwarf every club in this league by their stature, it is not doom and gloom, it is just a bit of a frustrating period, however the players need the fans more that ever to get behind the lads, I heard a few poor shouts from people directed at me, and various players yesterday, and to be honest I was bitterly disappointed to hear that...

Everything the side has given us this season this far, I think they deserve a little slack.... but I guess that is the fickleness of fans....

If you don’t agree with something I am very approachable, come and chat to me in the bar, and more than happy to talk it over, that is the beauty of non league football.

However I had one guy in particular walk past the bench yesterday, telling me the team is useless and can’t score to save our lives... a team that is still almost averaging 3 goals a game in the league... with two of the strikers sitting on the bench listening to this guy... absolute craziness and to be honest very disrespectful.

Let’s hope for better on Boxing Day in every department.

I actually thought the Ref was having a decent game until Stratford upped the anti with their blatant and ridiculously obvious attempts to time waste.

Like a lot of Refs he just let it carry on until it became farcical, summed up when he eventually booked a player for time wasting taking a goal kick and then allowed the player to pick the ball up and run towards him complaining about his booking.

I'm really disappointed to hear that Bakes.

Every club has a few mindless idiots and I suppose we are no exception. Difficult I know to ignore them and as you say it is disrespectful to the excellent achievements of all the players so far this season.

Neil and Jon

As ever thanks for coming on the board - you don't have to and the way you engage with everyone makes it easier to do just what you ask and get behind the team. As I understand it Jon is doing it from a very different timezone so more than FairPlay to both of you.

We, as ever, were alongside the away dugout and there was a group of fans there being very critical - suggesting we had no ideas, even criticising Jack for kicking it forward so often when his distribution is widely recognised outside the club as superb. As I've said before I prefer to use the word supporter rather than fan as it describes the contribution we can make and right now, having had such a great season to date, it's time for us to step up.

As for the game itself, I agree that had even one of the chances we had before they scored gone in, Brad or Alan's header, Tog's shot to name but 3 close ones, we would be having an entirely different conversation. In the first half particularly we were creating a lot and the away manager was getting increasingly frustrated at the difficulty they were having in picking up our midfielders - Dunny, Togs and Nathan in particular - which given how well organised Stratford were in particular. There was maybe a slight lack of incisiveness but I have no doubt that it will come back - same team that came back to beat Merthyr, put 6 past Gainsborough and comfortably beat Weymouth after all.

Was really pleased to see how heads did not drop but we continued to press until the end and got the equaliser we more than deserved, and that having done so the team were obviously looking to try to get the chance to win it. Great attitude from the whole team as ever - they never give up. Please thank the whole squad from the 3 generations of Randalls that come and watch - we would want to be in the hunt at Christmas and we are - and have had a cup run to boot.

Happy Christmas - won't get there on Boxing Day personally (Dad will) - so see you at Chesham.

RR I meant the Stratford manager but since we equalized in overtime I reckon we should also be pleased with a point I really can't agree with your belief that the position of opponents in the league doesn't matter If our next 7 games were all against top half teams do you think we would do as well as if they were against bottom half teams?

Neil is spot on with his assessment of how strong our position still is With such a variance in games played the only true measure is how many points a team has lost Currently Hereford 12 Slough 15 Kettering 16 Kings Lynn 18 Weymouth 22 Tiverton 25. Hitchin 31 Yes we've had a few hiccups but still very much a challenging top team and a number of our catch up games are six pointers No crisis at Arbour Park IMO.

Irishadrian, most certainly do.

We've already beaten Hereford, Weymouth, Hitchin and Tiverton.

My point being is that no matter where a team is placed in the league table if you don't perform to your capabilities there is always going to be a St Neots or a Bishops Stortford result waiting to bite you on the proverbial.

Its really worth reading the Stratford official match report which is full of praise for our flowing football and speaks of total dominance on our part especially first half They are definitely very pleased to have got something from the game They certainly don't think we had a poor game!
