League Tonight 5/12

So 13 points behind Kings Lynn now. Yes 6 games in hand and potentially 5 points clear IF we win them all. But I’d certainly rather be in their position with points in the bag. Makes the game at theirs coming very soon a must not lose.

Yep, have to agree Glennie, points in the bag any day of the week.

You also have to say that Kings Lynn especially are looking very good and don't look like they will drop many points so it's going to be really tough playing catch-up.

Got to disagree. To be in that position you don't have the glory and financial boost of a cup run or two. Kings Lynn played two fa cup games and one in the trophy.

I would much rather be in our position having had the cup run but with the league in our own hands.

At the start of the season you know that to win the league you will need to get over 90 points and average over 2 points per game. Nothing has changed.

Yes our games will come thick and fast and yes we may suffer if there is a harsh winter and postponements but it is all going to come down to working hard on the pitch and a bit of good fortune same as it ever does.

We've the best playing squad we've had for years, two excellent managers, an amazing chairman, superb volunteers and a fan base that with the right encouragement can really get behind the team. Reasons to be optimistic.

No still very optimistic and of course wouldn’t give up our cup runs this season. Just saying it’ll be very difficult to haul back that points gap especially as we’ve got to play Kings Lynn and Hereford within the next 8 matches. Forgetting cup runs I think most would prefer points in the bag than games in hand?

Perhaps more significant is that 9 of the 10 teams below us have already played either 21 or 22 games Of course our aim should be Champions but we are very well placed even at this stage for the playoffs.

Irishadrian, I don't think there is any doubt that we will make the play-offs but would that be a satisfactory outcome with the squad we've got?.

We have a very good squad RR but so do Kettering, Kings Lynn and IMO the biggie in Hereford who have something like a 25man squad.

We have no right to win the league, and whilst we have a strong chance, play offs is nothing to be sniffed at.

Neil, we have every right to win this league. This squad should be aiming to be the best in the division, not settling for play offs. I don't believe we should fear any side. We are just as good as any of them.

To win the title is rarely easy but we have the players to do it, if they can all get fit and keep fit.

It's better to have the points than games in hand but it is what it is.There's no reason why we can't claw back into contention.  We've had a brilliant season and we should be rightly proud of what our team has done so far.

We need to believe that we can make something even more special happen come the end of the season.

Positive belief not negative.

The two biggest questions for this side currently, is how well will they handle the winter games and can we cope with important players out with injury?.

At the start of the season the side was thriving because of the competition for places and the varied type of player we could call on. It will do wonders for us,if we can recapture this for the tough, up and coming weather afflicted matches.

If Brad Wadkins, Gav James and Alan Inns are going to miss a lot more games, I can only see it as being inevitable that we will need to dip in to the transfer market, if we mean business for a title shot.

Spencers latest deluded drivel now on the Farnborough site. "Forced to play three 16 yr olds" " 2 players texted me and said they couldn't play" "Never known so many injuries and suspensions" "Experienced players letting down the younger ones" etc. etc.

No doubt in my mind that when the bad weather/poor pitches come into play points on the board are better than games in hand.

Also agree that keeping important players fit and available will be the key to having any chance of winning the league.
