Have BBC's Teletext people still given us 30 points instead of 27 on their league table?

Hi Laz.

 

Apparently one/some/all of the "agencies" who distribute the results were told that we had won 5-0 immediately after the match on Saturday. Someone with a sense of humour in the Secretary's office at Hitchin? Al Q'Aida? EFM?

 

Anyway some of the League tables were showing us with 30 points on Saturday evening. I haven't checked but I assume that they have been corrected by now.

 

Wishful thinking indeed. On Saturday's showing it will be a while before we reacg the dizzy heights of 30 points.

The points were still there on Sunday afternoon. I'm beginning to believe we did win 5-0. I await an update to the website fixture list to confirm it one way or the other.

 

Also according to the Oracle of wisdom that is Teletext, we are playing Purfleet away Tuesday night.

So it's back on for tomorrow at the Hotel then Laz.

Laz. I have an idea. Let's you and I set up a compnay as a central clearing house for fixture details. We could get every club to contact us with confirmation of their fixture arrangements and we could then distribute the information to the various elemets of the media, T.V, newspapers etc. The clubs would only make one call [to us] and we would communicate with the half-a-dozen or so 'outlets'

So what you are suggesting is as follows:

 

1. We advertise the Saturday fixture (unlike this Saturday.)

 

2. We report the correct result.

 

3. We update the league tables correctly.

 

4. We don't advertise fixtures that have been cancelled. (Like this Tuesday.)

 

That sounds like a lot of effort, AFF, and I'm too busy panicing to do anything like that.

According to the Rymans Fans Forum some scouser was paid out £150 or thereabouts on a bet on City to beat Hitchin, probably due to the 5-0 error. He returned the money and they have given him £20 for his honesty.

What a scarfer!

I'd be clearing the account out and opening a new one like a shot. You very rarely get one over on the bookies, I've gone right off them since I heard that the early Xmas number 1 betting saw Gary Jules at 40/1 and a stack of people put cash on it just for them to refuse to pay out as the single was then listed as Gary Jules & (somebody)
