Weymouth game.

Thought I would start the Weymouth thread. Really looking forward to this game. For me the league games are the most important games this season.

This one looks like it will be particular tricky, given their form and our injury woes.

Am I a 'real fan' as I'm giving up watching the Autumn Test match between England v Australia in rugby union, to watch 'The Rebels' !   ha ha !

Actually I think our dropping down the table and games in hand help us here . Weymouth are indeed in good form but we just need a draw out of this so no real pressure. I would rather be playing them at home now rather than a mid- table or lower side , which would be hard to motivate players and fans for. Should be a good game , big crowd , big noise .

3 pts would be a BIG win.

I believe we must try and win our home games, Stan, while a draw wouldn't be a bad result I would say it's two points dropped.

To me drawing games are key away from home against the better sides or those that turn out to be handfuls or those that have such awful pitches that it's hard to play any football on.

Not saying don't try , just saying given everthing else that we are contending with, if it ends in a draw, against a top side that would be an acceptable result . If we were plying a lower half side pressure would be on to get a win.We never play for draw , just my opinion that I'll go home happy with one point but delighted with 3 .

I thought we would be making FA Cup match tickets available this Saturday, in order to possibly encourage more fans to attend (especially when we will be selling the FA Cup commemorative shirt).

But presumably the Club would have made an announcement before now, and probably given some priority to season ticket holders before now if tha5 was the plan.

Good news about the 7 day approach. I hope he's a forward ! That seems to be the area where currently because of injuries we're now understrength.

Not relevant to tomorrow's game but any news on Harrison Gilkes?

What got me thinking about Harrison's condition, was that I noticed Abdulai Baggie now plays for Weymouth and is a player that came from the Reading area and can play on the wing. Think he will be one [among others in the Weymouth team] to watch out for tomorrow. He's a livewire.

Harrison is still struggling with his hamstring, after such a serious injury you can have set backs and unfortunately that is the case with him.

No real time scale on his return I am afraid.

He had a scan today so we will have to wait on the results. He is still getting too much discomfort to play or even train unfortunately.

Jon, do you think these types of injuries are worsened by the rigours of playing on 3g or is that just a fallacy ?

Well considering he picked up the injury on grass and the only official matches I think he played since have been on grass.....

The squad has not picked up any more injuries in the last two seasons when playing on the 3G as you would expect them to get whilst playing on grass.

The increase of injuries caused by 3G pitches has never been definitively proven by anyone.

Didn't know you name is Jon !

SRJ, I know a number of players who are wary of playing on 3g because of their previous injuries.

I don’t believe 3G has any negative impact on injuries and not aware of any research that says otherwise.

Injuries are part and parcel of football and you have spells where you don’t get any and spells where you have plenty. It is what it is and we’ll get on with it!
