Banbury next Tuesday (21st Nov)

The FA may not be as dumb as we think (although they think a game never played needs replaying not rescheduling) They have told Farnborough that they must play Banbury on Saturday with the squad announced for the unplayed game so no returning injured players or loanees or new players not that would have crossed Spencer Days mind!

I hate that ground, last time we were robbed this time two errors cost us.

After a battling performance on a bobbly pitch clearly not at our best we had the three points almost in the bag.

Need to get a solid winning run in the league going again.

We go again on Saturday.

It’s just galling to have a win snatched away especially when it’s a error from our player and so late in the game. I thought we battled well to get back in front 2-1. The wind and pitch did us no favours but we kept going and we deserved the 3 points. But it’s not right to bash Smart we all make errors and it’s just an unfortunate error!

Shame they didn't think of that when our game got re-played

It was obvious that the ball needed to be played on the ground last night, firstly due to the wind and secondly the hight of there defence.  We must pick up on these things quicker.

Also Lench was wasted out on the wing, with Manny not playing he should be in behind Flood.  Warrens natural position is out wide and he is most effective there. We were to predictable launching the ball to Dobbo and they worked it out quickly.

Still we came away from there with a point.  It feels every time we play there we get robbed.

Just as John Porter was not around so unable to give interview, I thought I would give you a few observations from our point of view.

We played Warren up front, as we felt that he would go and work hard with Floody as an out and out striker (and they work well together), as we felt we needed to put pressure on their centre halves, whereas with lenchy he is usually more in the hole, and that was not what we wanted initially in the game, as it leaves Floody on his own, and in this type of game where a lot of the ball would be there to be battled for, and if Floody was in effect on his own, this is extremely hard work for him, and with what we have coming up we felt he needed support.

First 25 minutes this worked well and we were causing them problems, and if the ref does his job at 1-0 and gives the penalty for the foul on Warren we go on and win the game.

As the game got a bit stretched second half we were able to get on the ball a bit more, that was when we changed it around and put Wazza back out wide, and Lenchy in the hole.

We put in a dogged performance, and this is the type of game that last year we lose, however this year we should have won, but for a lapse by Smarty, which you cant legislate for, however he has been excellent for us this season, so there will be no blame from us, and in fact it almost galvanised us in the changing room after, and it showed how together we are.

On reflection If you had offered us 4 points before these 2 games we would 100% of taken it, it just feels disappointing that we have not got the 6, as by that stage we were so in control.

Anyway good support again, and we will see you all Saturday.

I have no idea how the ref didn't give that penalty, it was nailed on and there was definitely no ball contact. Don't know what the ref thinks he's seen but I can only assume it's because Warren didn't go down.

Really unfortunate to lose the lead like that having battled so hard to get back in front. Unfortunately we gave the ball away cheaply for the first goal and then Smart had done all the hard work before under hitting the back pass.

But still, we were second best for a large portion of the game, and fair play to Banbury for that, so I think a draw was probably fair overall but the nature of it leaves it feeling like a loss.

Disagree we were second best for a large portion of the game... last 20 minutes of first half we were not quite at it, and they had a few chances second half, but on the whole we controlled the game.

I thought they had the better of us from when they scored up until about ten minutes before we scored, which is a reasonable portion of the game. Full credit to our players from pulling the control back our way but that's the way I, and some of the fans I was with behind the goal, saw it, perhaps we were just being more worried than we needed to be.

Did the ref give any explanation of why he didn't give the penalty?

Yes, he knew immediately that he was going to have to answer why he had not given it, he actually said that our lad (Wazza) had beaten the defender with his turn, however that Warren had run into him and clipped his legs, and not the other way around, and I asked him how that could be the case as the defender was attempting to stop a shot and was running full pelt, so was the one out of control....

100% if Warren was not honest and dived, we get a penalty, it was because he was honest and stayed on his feet that it was not given, so goes back to the same old argument, do players have to go over to get a penalty, in which case they need to make a meal out of a tackle, which nobody wants to see in the game.

It is because of referees not given penalties in this situation why players dive.

And 100% we would have gone on to win the game if we had converted the penalty.

Certainly agree that we were not second best for a large portion of the game.

There were good spells for both teams but in general I think we were the better team in the second half.

Unfortunately it is a necessity to have to fall over to get a penalty and I'm sure the vast majority of players in Wazza's position would have hit the deck like a sack of spuds to get the penalty. You can only blame the crass stupidity of ref's for allowing this to happen.
