FA Trophy 3rd Qualifying Round - Hendon v Slough Town

I thought we played well keeping a dangerous Hendon side reasonably quiet.

First half was relatively even but we took charge in the second half and really should have made our superior football/chances tell and then payed the penalty for those missed chances in the dying seconds.

Unfortunately our striker injury crisis is now 4 from 4.

Reportedly a tight hamstring but with the Rochdale game imminent can we really afford to risk Floody on Tuesday?

My MOTM was George Wells with another assured performance.

This is the catch 22 situation... we’ve gone for a smaller but quality squad instead of a larger but not as strong squad. So now we’re paying the price for not having the numbers but having a larger squad would then cause unrest of the many under utilitised players. You can’t win really! I’m sure our managers have it under control and are in deep discussions as we speak...

We tried to play football right to the end and probably paid the price. Referee magicked up extra minutes from who knows where . Given the debate we had on here a couple of weeks ago about holding in the corner perhaps if we taken that route a 1-0 would have done the job.

In the corner any day of the week to get the win. Other teams would do it why not us?

We have the replacements for most positions but to now have all 4 strikers injured at the same time is beyond bad luck.

Am I right in saying both Manny and Gav James were injured in training?

Small squad?? Not at all Glen, we have a decent sized squad at our level, but with four forwards a centre half and a winger injured we are only short up top... however any side that has all 4 strikers injured would be struggling... yet we have still only lost one game in over 20, so not al bad.

Nothing we can do before Tuesday night, as anybody not signed on before midday on Friday Is not eligible for the replay, and with Adam Cornell not available, that means we are only able to add Darren Wheeler, Tom Biss or Dan Read, and Wheeler is injured.

I dunno I’d consider 18 players borderline small Neil! So it could be Dan Read as our only striker Tuesday who’s hardly played for a couple of years? Obviously we could put Warren up top too and we do score elsewhere. More of an issue is the Rochdale match where we’re struggle to fill the 18 available spaces especially as it’ll be pretty darn difficult to bring in any decent players who aren’t cup tied.

Floody is not being risked because of a tight hamstring, as we can’t afford to lose him for Rochdale with the doubts on others, he put himself available for the game though, however due to a family issue he will not be available anyway tomorrow.

Manny we hope can do a bit of running tomorrow, and we hope that he will be part of the squad against Rochdale, though he won’t have played for 4 weeks since the Gainsborough game.

Brad is a possibility also depending on MRI results he gets Wednesday.

Gav starts running this week, but the FA Cup game will come too early for him.
