the ones i can't understand are Oakes and Tomlinson who are presumably the more expensive and on contracts ......but perhaps nobody else wants them ? But it seems sad to be considering letting Martin go when he can clearly perform at this level when fit/confident etc. Brown is a funny one, i don't really see why Cambridge would want him when they have Pluck and Langston ,both good players.

I think in time we will see that Castle is well connnected, especially with younger players released by league sides, but not this season.Why would anybody playing well in a decent side want to join us at this point?

Today, this football club has a choice. Give up on this season and prepare for next season in the Ryman Intermediate League or sort it out now and move up the League into the top half of the table.

 

There is a danger that in about 4 weeks time that choice wont be available to us.

SM. From my faraway vantage point, it seems that the Saints have not been signing up promising 19 and 20-yr-olds just released from league sides, but average 21-yr-olds from Ryman Div 2 etc.

that is my point...all he can get at the moment are Ryman Division 1 standard players who might train up or loans, and there is a limit on the number of those....

but it is worrying that we couldn't get Brennan ( at Hendon ) or Morison ( at B .Stortford )on loan ....i hope that is money related ?

It's a poor league this season, made all the more interesting by the mass scramble for a top 13 place. I still say that the play-offs are our best hope (Iron & City). I just hope we don't meet in them, but I can't help thinking we will.

Presumably, any non-football exclusions will apply before the play-offs take place so the numbers may be reduced.

Naaaa, Laz, you've got it wrong mate - two progress from the Isthmnian play-offs - the winners of Rob's games 6 and 7 above (by the way Rob, that stuff you nicked off The Iron website is copyright!)

Anyway, City finish 15th - 17th and Iron will almost certainly find a way of being the opposite, say 18th - 20th.

If so, it both Iron and City qualify, they will eventually meet unless knocked out by someone else.
