Kettering fc 21/10

A point is a good result for both sides. Always important not to lose to your rivals. Probably a bigger result for us.

Great for the managers to make a substial tactical change and see it pay off . Also another clean sheet. Gives the players great confidence in changes in any future games .

Also gives them confidence in going to a tough place and coming away with a result . Unlike last season when we went there and got bullied out of our dinner money.

Ironic that we started the day as second only to Man City in goals per game ratio and end up going top of our league after a 0-0!

I was there and although it wasn't an entertaining match, it was interesting to see us set up with the intention of getting a draw (with Nis in a deep defensive midfield role), and then tactically restricting the game to one side of the pitch (I'm sure Jack could have placed the ball on the other side on goal kicks and kept the ball in play, but chose not to).

We went for the draw and got it, against a side with 6 consecutive home wins.... a good day in my books.

Not having a pop Curtis but nobody sets up with the intention of getting a draw. You might set up with a defensive mindset and a tactical plan intended on securing a clean sheet but you wouldn't pass up a goal scoring opportunity. After all Demba Ba didn't hoof it into row Z after Gerrard's slip because Jose had told them to get a nil nil.

Look at Chippenham last season in our league. Lots of narrow victories based on being hard to beat. They scored lots of late goals as no doubt the opposition pushed for more and they capitalised.

I wasn't at the game but obviously conditions played a part and I have a feeling late on neither side took too many risks trying to win it which is sensible pragmatic football.

RR It was really good in the clubhouse because it was packed and there was alot of socialing and laughter i was talking to kettering supporters.

What was on was for the youngsters so they were happy too.

Conditions for both sides to show there skills on the pitch was impossible.

The swirling wind was terrible the ball rolls and bounces as if both teams are playing the game on the Beach.

Dobbo and Togs both had the best shots at goal.

Frome is another shocking ground with a sloping pìtch and swirling wind teams have no chance to show there skills
