Gainsborough Trinity

Just watched the BBC highlights for the 6th time . It gets better each time.

This team just gets better and better. We took apart a higher ranked outfit like they were a struggling county side.

The Cup can always throw up one-off shocks , players playing out of their skins decent sides do have a bad day. But we are doing it week in week out against all comers. Don't anyone dare nominate a man of the match.

No one played exceptionally. Mat lench got a hat trick...but he got one last week , no biggie! Our top scorer did not even score, Jack did not have much to do but made a world

Class save again ! . Manny controlled the ball like it was on a string , like he always does. No exceptional performances in this truly exceptional team

Not to mention the great hospitality by Gainsborough.

When the team left the bar area to head back to their coach, every single person in the bar applauded them out.

I can't remember the last time I saw that from an opposition team and supporters.

What a day

Echoing previous comments in all the years that I have been supporting this great club I really cannot recall such a totally dominant, exhilarating performance as was witnessed yesterday. Truly marvellous and I don't mind admitting that at the end I had tears in my eyes. Congratulations and I trust a great time was had by all in Nottingham. What fantastic support as well! Let's hope we can keep a reasonable level for the trip to Maldon next Saturday. And roll on 7pm Monday!  COYR!!

I'm sure I wasn't the only one this morning checking the score to make sure I hadn't dreamt it. Having been watching since the early 90's in the conference I'm not going to sit here and say this is the best team I've ever seen in a Slough shirt. However, some of the football I watched yesterday was simply stunning and we have some truly gifted footballers in this squad. Floody, Dobbo, lenchy, wazza are all immensely skilful footballers for this level but for me it's old 'little legs' himself who truly makes this side tick. Having watched players who couldn't trap a bag of cement in the bad old days of the late 2000's, manny seems to bring the ball out of orbit as if he's controlling it by remote and 9 times out of 10 he is involved somewhere along the line in everything we do well. But along with the style you have to have substance and we had that in bucket loads yesterday; how many of our goals came from us winning the ball back via high tempo pressing football; togs was insanely good but the whole team were involved. Mix that all in with an atmosphere that I can't remember since we beat Stevenage in the trophy in 98 and this was a day I will never forget. Thank you to the management, players and fellow supporters for an exceptional afternoon and I truly believe there are so many more to come this season!!! 'Tottenham Hotspur, we're coming for you!!!' ???

Epicrebel, thanks for the link, would have listened but problems with the broadband in central Portugal, lots of lines down due to the forest fires here. But a big thanks again for the link, now hoping for an easy tie so we can make the third round, then go and beat the Gooners away..

Have followed The Rebels for a very long time and that victory, and the reported manner in which it was achieved, looks right up there with the best of them. Congratulations to all involved and roll on the Second Round draw.

Amongst the euphoria of yesterday the other bonus we got was that no harm was done to our real target this season Kings Lynn and Weymouth were both beaten Kettering won at Farnborough to push us into second but have played more We are still well on target to be Champions! Let's have no playoff nonsense!
