FA Cup 1st Round Proper

Just a thought is the 1st round still regionalised? if so Blackburn, Wigan etc would not be an option.

The First Round is not regionalised. If my maths is correct, our chance of drawing a Football League club is just under 61%!

Playing Heybridge (guessing they’re the lowest ranked team?) though makes us favourites, putting alot more pressure on us and at this stage wouldn’t no team would be considered easy. Not that I’d say no to them at home but it’s a massive potential banana skin!

Just thinking if we get drawn away what club could generate the biggest crowd if we’re looking at a big pay day. The obvious ones like Portsmouth, Charlton, Bradford and Blackburn pop up but as someone mentioned we won’t be any attraction to them so unless the ticket prices are lowered not sure we’d attract more than 10,000 at any game (just being greedy as obviously that sort of crowd would be great!).

Anyone saying they'd like a small team at this stage is barmy! Yes they're winnable, but they're also very much loseable (anybody need reminding of Harrogate Railway or Yeading?), plus we'll miss out on money and media exposure etc. You don't want to get all this way only to get a fellow step 7/8 side surely?

I'll take any Football League team home or away, but preferable someone like Portsmouth or Charlton.

I've had a good think about this, and I think it's probably all about getting a big pay day now.

The best we could hope for is a live televised match (£67,500 per Club), and there were three televised 1st Round matches last season with Merstham (level 7) at home to Oxford United (level 3) being one of them.

So a home match against any League One club would probably attract the cameras...... about a 15% chance of that happening and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
