Merthyr on Tuesday

Recommended Posts

Not sure if it has been mentioned on here yet or not but Nathan Webb made his 100th appearances for Slough against Merthyr.

Well done SRJ, for pointing out Nathan's 100th match.

I find Nathan an under rated player at times. We seem to favour Simon Dunn.

I don't think there's a lot to choose between either of them and in fact I prefer both of them as a combination to either of them with Lee Togwell, although Lee is a hard player to drop and has embedded himself into the team like Manny has, really.

Both are class team players, so you can see why they are picked automatically.

I would air towards a 3-5-2 if I was the manager, with this squad at my disposal but what do I know.

I do think, though, we should count our lucky stars that we have had a top notch Chairman, who appointed a couple of top notch good guys as managers, who have steadily built a squad of decent players, who aren't  a bunch of wa**ers.

Having followed Slough for a long time, there's a lot to be said for this.

Anyway, whatever happens this season, this far, it's been bloody enjoyable and  I'm chuffed we're doing as well as we are !

Looking at the current top five, Kettering, Slough, Hereford, Kings Lynn and Weymouth I think it will take something out of the ordinary to shift 'the big 5'.

Always possible and it's early days but I'd lay odds that these will be the teams at the top come April.

Agree with that. Chippenham lost 5 games last year and the most anyone had lost and still won the league in recent years is 8. So anyone who has lost 3 or more already is highly unlikely to lose less in the rest of the season. You need a good combination of Muscle Money and Motivation to be champions That puts Kettering Hereford and Kings Lyn in the frame. Our job is to match them M for M. Then add a bit of magic like Tuesday night !

Quite coherent considering it was written under the influence of 8 pints of West Berkshire Good Old Boy and 4 pints of Ringwood Wild Boar bitter ! :)

Paying for it now, though.

While we were originally going to just target at those that were there, after chatting with Adrian (who came up with the idea) he suggested we open it out to everyone. This is a Trust led idea which is why it's not been mentioned with regards to the club shop. It's purely to get an idea of interest at the moment.
