Merthyr on Tuesday

Recommended Posts

I was there (it's one of those type of moments) and I still can't believe it. What a game, what a comeback. The most unlikely of outcomes, and a fantastic show of character and ability from our team. I don't think I'll ever see anything like it ever again, even the managers looked absolutely shell shocked and the fans who have been going for 50 years said they've never seen anything like it.

I was doing the Twitter through the Trust account and it was unbelievable because there was probably more goals scored than there was other chances.

Just listened back to the last 5 minutes of Adrian's commentary, just brilliant although he did sound rather drunk, giggling all the way from the winner to the end!

Unbelievable!

I was having a quick look around for 'great football comebacks'.... there appear to be a few occasions when sides have come back from 0-4 down to get a 4-4 draw, but I can only find one other side coming back to win.

That happened to require extra-time when Reading were 4-0 up against Arsenal and lost 5-7 after extra-time.... and I think the Reading manager at the time was Brian McDermott.

There's got to be a great story there for a budding journalist.... and one that if written well might go viral or make the national papers.

I remember it, I was there for that game but sadly not for last night's at Merthyr! Some of the Arsenal players threw their shirts into the crowd not realising there would be extra time instead of a replay.

Ade was laughing and commentating there manager is doing his nut at some of his players not working hard enough come on it is only 4-1.

Ha he knew what might happen if his team drop there levels.

It was a crazy 1st 20 mins. But after we settled and we got to half time with no further score several people started saying , if we get at them in the second we could nick something. Usually misplaced optimism but this was a brittle MT side who had conceded 12 goals in their last two games !

They came out 2nd half trying to slow the game down and just hold on . Once we got it back to 4-2 they looked like frightened rabbits, started trying to play a bit but it was too late and once we got our third it was just a matter of time. Have to say though, thought a draw was it when Flood then Dobbo had shots cleared off the line around 90 mins. All went mental after Dobbo's winner but at the final whistle it was more like shock , everyone just wandering around saying 'did that just happen' even the managers were just sitting in the stand looking stunned.

We have seen it so many times the spirit hard work and quality of Slough teams under our present managers giving there all in difficult positions.

Only one I have found is Charlton 7-6 Huddersfield from 1957. Charlton were 5-1 down before coming back. With just 11 goals in the second half.

What a fantastic result. Like most others I had written us off after the first 20 mins. Great characters in the whole team/squad.

They certainly like to put Bakes and Unders through it.!!

Although we have won a few games recently coming from behind it is not good for the ticker. Lets win conventionally on Saturday by scoring first and then bang in a few more to ensure we do not come under any pressure.
