Some excellent promos for non league day especially the bring two people free for season ticket holders and the one off reduced season tickets prices.

On the 1976 Slough School Boy's team the only names I recognise are:

Joe Maloney, Paul Walker, Brian McDermott, Bruce Pointer and Jimmy Jacobs.

I wonder if Brian McDermott will be in attendance?

Excellent day. Nice to be raising a few quid for a good cause and fantastic to see that legendary Slough schoolboys side in attendance.

Onto the game, excellent result against a well organised and disciplined biggleswade side who caused plenty of problems.

Another game were it was difficult to pick a motm. Thought Inns was superb at centre half - first time I've seen him in action. Togs was his waspish best. Lench had a cracking game at centre midfield, the wingers were a constant threat and Manny was full of tricks and great control which often put him a yard ahead of the game. Pleasure to watch.

Vital three points ahead of a tough week. COYR

That was certainly a dogged, hard thought and patient win. It felt at times it may not be our day but we stuck at it and got our reward. I did question why Manny was subbed as he was one of our best performers today, luckily Jon knew what he was doing! Shame Kettering thrashed Merthyr 5-0, let’s hope we don’t get the backlash on Tuesday.

Slough keep winning which is what matters, I do however think we made hard work of beating Biggleswade today.

No disrespect to Biggleswade who aren't a bad side and caused us a few problems but I thought Slough had numerous chances first half but players in great goal scoring opportunities failed to get a shot at goal and kept passing the ball sideways to other players, rather than taking the responsibilty of shooting. Sometimes it appeared like we were trying to walk the ball in the net.

After the half time interval we were slow out the blocks but eventually got going. At times we played some fantastic passing football and it is possibly seen as harsh picking out the flaws in our play, when our team gives us great entertainment and keeps grinding out the results.

My observation is more about what a great squad we have and there's no doubt in my mind that we are one of the best teams in this division but there's no way we shouldn't be taking some sides apart with our dazzling play.

Kettering have put 5 past Merthyr today, which is no mean feat.

All I'm saying is we are edging results, yes in a clinical way but sometimes too close for comfort.

For the 90+ minutes I saw today I thought Slough were a class above Biggleswade but we only won 2-1. To be champions we need to start wiping the floor with some of these average hardworking teams, if we want to win the title.

Having said all that it was still an enjoyable match to watch and the 1976 Slough schoolboys got treated to a good Slough performance.

Matt Lench was my man of the match but all of our players put in decent shifts.

........Next up the tricky away match against Merthyr

We are scraping past teams, are you having a laugh.

We are the leagues top scorers and have the joint best defence. With a goal difference of +21 after ten games!!!!!

It is only the 3rd league game we have won by a singular goal. The other two was away to Hereford who are one of the best teams in the league and the other was away to Farnborough in a derby match.

SRJ, you've misinterpreted what I've written.

Take the 3 points and be happy!

Took a neutral to the game who, thought we were sensational first half. Very unlucky not to be well ahead by the time we gave the goal, away.

I'm happy that the players were up for it today. In the past we have often mis-stepped on special days and with a tough trip,to MT Tuesday and the cup next Saturday this could easily have been another of those 'distracted' games.

Excellent that it was not.

Now for Merthyr.

We were the better side from start to finish and only chances not taken kept the game in the balance.

Sloppy goal to give away direct from a corner and at one nil Jack Turner has pulled off an absolutely cracking save to tip the ball onto the post, at 2-0 it could have been a different story.

Having said that we are creating chances and on another day we might have scored 4 or 5.

Very close for MOTM between a few players but for me George Wells gets the nod, setting up the equaliser with a terrific pin point cross along with several surging runs from defence to attack.

Tough game ahead on Tuesday night at Merthyr who will be looking for a big reaction after getting well beaten today by a very strong Kettering side.

COYR!!!

Agree about the 3 points,Stan but I thought we were could easily have finished the game 4-1 or 5-2 winners.

Trouble with neutral fans, they are just that, I'm glad he appreciated Slough's creativity but if he watched us regularly he might realise that we were for large parts not at our best. To me that shows how good a team we can be when it all clicks together.

A win is a win, though and it's great to be up to second in the table.

I would be happy with a draw at Merthyr but we are capable of beating them.
