Poole at Home FA Cup 30th September

The magic of the FA Cup serves up for us a match very similar to the same stage of the FA Cup last year.... a home match against a club a level higher than us. Last year it was looking like we would progress right up until the last ten minutes when Dartford scored two late goals to to defeat us 3-2.

This season with us having a stronger squad than last season, and Poole in the lower levels of the Conference South (whereas Dartford were near the top of the same league last season), we could be in with a better chance of a win and progressing.

From their last four away league matches Poole have W 0 D 1 L 3 have scored 3 and conceded 9.

From our last four home league matches we have W 3 D 0 L 1 scored 16 and conceded 3.

And the bookies have it fairly close with us as the favourites at 11/10 the draw 11/4 and Poole are 7/4.

It should be a great match, and it would be fantastic if we can attract a bigger attendance than the 733 against Dartford.

Get to Arbour Park, get behind the lads, and let's get into the next round of the FA Cup!

I’m certainly expecting our toughest match (so far) of the season. They have some very skillful players and obviously imjuries are affecting their league position. But form wise we should be confident and hopefully it’ll be a great cup tie (although I’ll take a rubbish match and a win!).

Assuming that it is the Tuesday night's Slough and not last Saturdays version that turns up it should be a fasinating contest. Poole have been hit hard by injury this season so it may well come down to whether that affects their ability to impose their higher league status on us. We will see less of the ball than we are used to and we will have to get our decision making right to the end of 90+. Last year we were by far the better side for majority of the time against Dartford , then their stenghth and fitness , both mental and physical , did for us in the last 10 mins.

Bring it on.

Does Michael Walker still play for them?

For my money he was pound for pound the best player we have come up against in this league.

.......and Jamie Whisken is no mug defender either !

If it's a draw tomorrow the replay usually would be Tuesday, but Monday we are supposed to be playing beaconsfield so what happens, surely not two games on the trot ???

Hypothetical at this stage but a replay on Tuesday would mean the Beaconsfield game would be moved, possibly to the following Monday - and, because League Cup ties need to be played at the earliest available opportunity, this would then cause the trip to Merthyr to be rearranged.

I'm told that the league cup doesn't take that much of a priority over league games anymore. Not sure exactly what would happen in the case it got moved but from what I was told the Merthyr game wouldn't necessarily be affected.

Bloody fantastic today. Forget the keeper howler (although it was funny) that second half performance deserved the rewards. Lench upped his game 2nd half, Manny superb throughout, Flood worked hard and great header, Togs everywhere. The defence were good and Turner solid but weren't put under that much pressure which is great credit to everyone.

The keeper howler reminded me of Erik Thorstvdt's debut for Spurs v Forest for anyone with long memories, poor chap.
