PocketRocket
Really enjoyed the game. We dominated particularly more so in the second half, hit the woodwork twice, missed 3-4 good opportunities and their keeper Xavi pulled off a world class save in the dying seconds. Proper cup tie . We still go into the hat Monday we just need to see off Hanwell on Tuesday Night , we just need to take the lead. Great debut by Moore.
AnfieldTowner
Much better performance yesterday even if we didn't get the win. The return of Aaron Greene was a very welcome boost for the supporters and lifted pre-match spirits. Aaron didn't disappoint - worked his socks off and brought some much needed quality. Many of the players responded to this and played some decent football - particularly Jack, Mario and Sam. Nice to see us passing the ball at last, even from the back. In truth we should have won this match comfortably. Their keeper was outstanding, we hit the bar twice and had a goalbound shot cleared off the line by a defender when we finally beat the keeper. Montell Moore played three killer passes and it was really good to see Ben Ward-Cochrane making the runs to get on the end of them - just needs to concentrate now on finding the back of the net, very impressed with his movement though, keep it up, Ben, and goals will come. Good to see a togetherness between players and fans yesterday - the fans certainly responded to the way we played and the effort was appreciated. No goals was certainly not for the want of trying, we battered them at times. To give Hanwell their credit they defended very well. Looking forward to Tuesday night now. littlehampton
What a really enjoyable, well contested FA Cup tie this proved to be, on a warm sunny afternoon at The Powerday Stadium. After two close single-goal league defeats, Town were in no mood to let this one slip, and gave a gritty, determined performance, in a very competitive, closely fought contest. As Anfield Towner mentions in the previous post, the signing and return of Aaron Greene lifted everyone, and his pace and skill caused plenty of problems for the Hanwell defence. It was great to see such a large number of Town supporters at Hanwell cheering on our guys, in a match that Town did everything but score. Well done to Andy Leese and our guys on yesterdays performance and result. There is still work to be done, but based on our showing at Hanwell, Town will fancy their chances of progressing in the replay, under the lights at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium on Tuesday evening. Don't miss it!
vauxhallman
Totally agree anfield towner. Would like to see montelle start with Drew up front as i believe he would get onto those killer passes that montelle can produce. COYT.
