Dulwich Hamlet

Cracking game today with two quality sides battling it out. Dulwich Hamlet will wonder how they came away with nothing.

We came out of the traps brilliantly in the first half and dominated play for twenty minutes but then Dulwich clawed their way back into the match and come half time I thought we were slipping off the pace and found all our outfield players were getting deeper and being dragged into our own half. I thought it looked like we were inviting pressure by doing this, though Bakes in his interview thought we had a great shape. So what do I know.

Late on came the red card, my view was it was harsh on the Dulwich player,

After the half time interval we started sluggishly and got caught napping for their first goal and could have found ourselves two down, had it not been for the Jack Turner save. Luckily we got away with it and nabbed a deserved equalizer but we weren't getting completely on top of 10 man Dulwich.

Their second goal wasn't a surprise coming and for awhile we looked like we would be exiting this round of the fa cup but you cannot keep our team down.

I thought we could have brought on Dobbo and Manny slightly earlier but whatever they made their influence count as soon as they arrived.

Lee Togwell had an exceptional game today and to me he thoroughly deserved the Man of the Match award.

Anyway we're into the next round. I expected a close fought game and we got one but on the balance of play we just about edged it and got out of the dreaded replay. Let's hope for easier opposition next time around !

Very pleased with the win. I wouldn't have argued with a draw but glad we snuck it. Was standing very close to the red card incident - a free kick and yellow all day long, Matt Lench did not dive and the guys foot was high, although Matt was stooping a little, and caught him on the side of the face. Thought a red was harsh.

Very impressed with the Georges today but the whole side showed character to get the win after going behind twice.

Quality game, they were a very good side with their number 3, 4 and 20 outstanding. I think the sending was harsh, but we got the job done and our great run continues. Dunn, Togwell, Inns and Wells all outstanding. COYR!

I thought their numbers 7 and 14 had great games

The Georges?  George Wells, who else?

Very entertaining match.... and I was very pleased with the result.

Probably not one of our better performances this season, but Dulwich are a very good side who had only previously lost to Hendon and Billericay (the top two in their league), and not lost away from home. I'm not sure how many ex Conference National players they had (definitely Preston Edwards the goalkeeper and Ashley Carew the number 10) and I would be surprised if they don't make the play-offs this season.

I think we deserve a little bit of FA Cup good fortune this season, and I am hoping we get a home tie against a club at a lower level than us in the next round (Aylesbury United, Ashford, Cinderford, Paulton Rovers, Sudbury).

With Guy Hollis missing, I think we did remarkably well against such a good side.

It was good to see Alan Inns and Mark Nisbet use all their experience to good effect and that's another feather in the cap for the managers and this squad, the fact that missing such a vital mainstay as Guy, apart from Dulwich's well taken goals and a couple of Slough player mistakes, for best part of the game we managed to contain their attacking intent, and conversely in spells we played some delightful attacking football.

Bringing any player from the squad into our first eleven doesn't weaken our team. That's something I've never witnessed in the time I've been watching Slough.

Yes we've had a higher calibre of player and often a couple of half decent subs but the depth of our squad currently is extremely good and we're very fortunate to have such a good options.

Very early days of the season I know but I believe we have a great chance of doing something special this season.

Full highlights now online.

watching the video for the red card it is pretty straightforward imo, definite red.

Still not convinced - Matt got round his back so the player wouldn't have known exactly where he was, and Matt dips his head down at the crucial moment. I'd have thought a yellow was fair.

Very good balanced highlights package I thought - also what a finish by Togs. Worth MOTM on it's own.

We always claim to want consistency from refs . I think to be fair to the profession they have been pretty clear this season and anything like this has got a red. May not agree with it but they are clearly following specific instructions , so all players need to be mindful of that and keep their feet down , however innocent their 'intent 'is .

Unusually That finish from Togs looked even better on screen than it did in real life.
