Hitchin at home 12th September

An excellent result against decent Hitchin side. I thought the game was precarious at 1-0 but we certainly took our chances tonight with Dobbo grabbing a hat-trick (certain to be sub on Saturday now!!!) with Flood involved I think 3 of the 4 goals. Top of the league and throughly deserved too.

Even at 1-0 I thought we would go on and win the game. I thought Hitchin looked a pale imitation to what they have been in the last couple of seasons. They created little first half but improved for first 15 minutes of the second half. They appeared short of confidence and when we got our second goal their heads dropped..

Taking nothing away from Slough, though,as they deservedly beat the team in front of them,in the end by a canter. Exciting times for the fans, with this squad. We're certainly getting our money's worth.

So much for needing power and pace ! ha ha !    Floody and Manny were awesome.

Credit to Dobbo also, for knowing how to put the ball in the net.At this rate he'll be challenging for top scorer again.

Just hope Jack Turner is ok.

Obviously, with Hitchin losing a couple of top players (although they do have Mcnamara back who was their best player tonight) they are not the same side as last season but they do have a few injuries and I think they played some decent stuff tonight but were just missing the final ball and a cutting edge up front.

I think the first half was nip and tuck but IMO we deservedly went into the break a goal up.

First 10/15 minutes of the second half Hitchin came at us and put us under some pressure but once the second goal went in we started to take charge and play some excellent football.

Personally I'm finding it difficult to name a MOTM because there were so many top draw performances tonight. Possibly Dobbo for his hat-trick or Floody for his excellent play setting up 3 of our goals.

Fingers crossed that Jack Turner's injury is not too serious.

COYR!!!

Yes the majority of Hitchin players are still the same, and Callum Donelly is still an annoying niggly little **** ! ha ha ! but I think it was evident last night, that they lacked purpose up front.

To be honest I think we have been fortunate to play them, when they are not quite at their best, although I would say on a positive that Slough made them look ordinary.

I expect the away game against them in November to be a much tougher proposition.

I thought we were superb to be fair across the park. Doubt many teams will spank hitchin like that. Flood and dobbo superb as was manny. In fact not a single bad game from anyone. Brilliant. Ps I thought we could/ should have been down to ten...

Didn't see the tackle by Wellsy properly to judge but if you dive in and the oppo player screams and clutches his leg then there's always the chance of a red card.

We both actually have a good relationship with Callum, he is a pest on the pitch, like Brett, however they are both good guys off the pitch, and there is a level of respect from all of us.

So we try to get into him, the same way he tries to get into our players.

You're right about him being a pest.

When we play at their place next I would man mark him with Guy Hollis ! ha ha ! Would give him something to think about !

I can only agree 100% as we often chat to them after (once during!) the games and both are top blokes.
