I was not at the game, Did they field a very young side as predicted and if so did they run out of steam towards the end which is usually what happens to young players ?.

Yes I agree BG, but good to have options and George Wells is no slouch going forward.

I think we then would have options of wing backs, rather than just full backs and wingers.

And Hitchins poor start continues well beaten at Tiverton They won't be relishing Tuesday.

 

 

Irishadrian, again we should be confident but I'm sure Hitchin will have had a tongue lashing from their manager after today's loss and I'm pretty certain Tuesday will be a lot tougher than today. We'll have to replicate today's second half performance for 90 minutes to get a result.

Looks like we got out done today by Salisbury who won 8 nil away at Shortwood.

What a top class Goalie we have in Jack Turner.

I wouldn't say they gave up, dejected yes as any team would be after the fifth goal went in.

I don't think they ran out of steam I just think we started playing as we know we can and just battered them into submission.

However good/bad they were it was great to see as soon as we got our second goal every player wanted to go and build our lead and we were constantly looking to get more goals. Great ruthlessness which will be needed throughout the season.

I thought our vocal support today was excellent and yes on what I've seen so far Jack Turner is a top class keeper.

We hit top early last season but ultimately meant nothing so don't get too excited about being 2nd. It's all about the next 3 points, not getting beat by your nearest rivals ( and we don't know who,they are at this early stage) .So at the moment getting ,or keeping a run going is the priority.

May seem strange to say after a big win but I don't think we have yet played as well as same stage last season but the main difference is it feels like we have strength in depth ( look at our bench today) compared to,last year when we had good first 11 and adequate cover replacements now I think we have a good 16 . Which shows in the pre-match discussions when everyone finds it difficult to predict team selection. Anyone want to predict Tuesdays team , I certainly can't.

The real test of our quality will be in the coming months when all our squad will have apart to,play.
