Jon Underwood
Just to keep everyone updated we had a 'behind closed doors' friendly at Arbour Park tonight against Harrow Borough and won 4-0 with 2 goals from Warren Harris in the 1st half followed by 2nd half goals from Brad Wadkins and Matt Lench (pen). A positive performance with no injuries so all in all a very worthwhile exercise. Team: Turner, Jackman, Smart, Hollis, Inns, Togwell, Dobson, Webb, James, Wadkins, Harris. Subs Used: Lench, Fraser, Dunn and Williams.
Big J R
I'm intrigued. Why 'behind closed doors' ??
staines_rebel_Jr
My guess is it was as much of a training session as anything else just keeping players match fit at getting game time. Also don't want any other teams getting an extra look at our team outside of official matches. Also the managers didn't even need to tell the fans there was even a friendly match going on as it was a secret until then.
Big J R
Thanks for the prompt reply Jr. I suppose I can see the point regarding 'poaching/scouting'.
A Rebel and a Saint
It would also be a considerable effort and cost to open up the ground for spectators.
