Farnborough away 28th August

Good, solid performance first half, only missed chances and some last ditch defending and some good saves from the Farnborough keeper kept the score down.

Second half we were not as good but understandable with the heat.

More than pleased to come away with the points without being at our best.

Oh, and who does the linesman think he is making a game changing decision in the 92nd minute costing Farnborough a point

COYR!!!

When it is said we were unlucky having good chances kicked of the line I always look at it as good defending by the opposition.

SD, it was chances cleared off the line by F'borough AND chances missed by us.

As SRJ would say you'd have to be there to know what went on   ;)

Spencer Day quote: "Just played 36 hours ago in Wales" when did this new 12 hour time zone get implemented???

Someone was always going to play Merthyr away this weekend ,either Saturday or today.Unfortunately it was Farnborough's turn.

I'm sure if they played them away on a Tuesday in January , he would still moan.

Eveyone has double- headers this weekend just like at Christmas and Easter.

Get over it !

The guy is unbelievable. Such a prat!

I just found that Spencer Day was passionate and loyal to his players and that he did acknowledge Slough as a very good team who deserved to have scored more goals in the first half. He has his view about our last goal and the sending off, which he's entitled to.

I thought Slough were extremely fortunate to get the three points in the end but really should have been out of sight by half time and not in such a precarious position.

We nearly threw that game away but well done our lads for keeping going till the end in baking hot conditions and getting our late goal, regardless of whether it was a goal or not.

It did seem that our enforced substitutions and Farnborough's subs changed the pattern of play. I thought we over used the long ball game and never looked comfortable playing it but it was noticeable that Farnborough 12 and 15, gave our players some problems when they came on.

Gav James was my MOTM.  Thought he and Brad Wadkins linked well together in the first half. Brad faded in the second period and it was the right decision to replace him with Chris Flood and as luck would have it got us the winner.

Whatever, another good win in the bag.

Yeh to be fair he did acknowledge Slough as being a very good team, albeit through gritted teeth!

Clearing off the line is last resort defending though. A defensive mistake and/or good attacking pressure has occurred most of the time to be in that position.

Chuffed to see today's full-time result come in during a long old day at work. 4 wins on the bounce, three of them away and probably without really being at our best yet, very encouraging.

Image 132 only seems to show me that with the goalkeeper behind the line the assistant would have had a very good view of whether the ball was over the line.

Image 133 & 134 are interesting when looking at where the number 9's foot comes down after kicking the ball...... would his clearing foot have come down that far behind the goal line if he had not cleared the ball from behind the goal line?
