I realise it's an old chesnut of mine, but can anybody explain,as to what happened to the Thorne's Lease, which apparently stated that football must be played at Wexham Park.WHOSE PLAYING THERE NOW?

And are the council just letting them get away with no football there?

Certainly not in use last time I was there as the goalposts had been removed from the playing area. I'm sure there is something in the lease which would allow them to have the playing area there but not be used for 'x' amount of time or something similar otherwise they should be given the riot act. Maybe we should get Millwall back in!

Well, as the Feasibility Study into Kennedy Park hasn't started and will probably take at least a year to carry out, then at this speed of progress, we won't have a Stadium until probably 2010, if ever, so perhaps we had better start finding out how we get back to Wexham whilst we still have a club to get back there and there is still a ground - STST - find a saviour fast! Surely it cannot be beyond possibility to find out what the Thornes would need, so as to get us back there next season?

I'd imagine £70k they are owed and little to no contact with Deaner would be a good starting point.

Deep down in my heart I can see us playing at Wexham Park again. I don't know how and when, but I can feel it happening - just one of those feelings. It will take something major, like Martyn Deaner walking away to make it happen though.

Matt,

I think we have to, because I really cannot see Kennedy Park now becoming a reality, if they have not even started the Study yet, there is no real drive to get there. Mr Deaner knows very well how long it takes to get everything set up from Planning permission, design, and most important (and the only reason the council is talking to him), to get the finance in place. A new stadium by the time the Windsor Ground share is up - what a joke! There is too much to do and we don't have the time, and in any case as we have seen before, we may not meet the financial and ground criteria for the new league setups at the higher levels.

So I think the only way we can survive is to get back to Wexham Park as soon as is possible, if it is, following Roger's comments. So if we were able to find £70k as Gary suggests, through the Trust, plus the rent for at least the first year, would the Thornes even consider that? We don't know, so perhaps we ought at least ask - Mr Thorne sounded quite positive in the posting on this site some months ago. So STST Committee, is this worth pursuing or is it a dead duck?

Perhaps if we had a target to aim for, then things would start to roll and put the pressure on Mr Deaner. If he really only is interested in keeping his link with the club for the sake of the business opportunity at Kennedy Park, then perhaps seeing it disappear if the club no longer needed the new stadium might help him make up his mind whether to continue with the club barely limping along as it is at the moment.

Is the £70k owed by Slough Town FC, or by FRUS/Martyn Deaner?

If the former, then we probably don't have a hope with the Thornes - unless they are feeling particularly benevolent.

If the latter, the Thorne's could presumably pursue Mr Deaner through the courts or something. (Which begs the question, why have they not done so yet?)

Is anyone on friendly enough speaking terms with Mr Thorne to find out where we stand?
