Will we be getting a 'looking forward to Gosport' update on the main site or are we going incognito ! ?

You can only beat what's in front of you. Sounds like we have put our wrongs right from Saturday and have come up trumps tonight, which bodes well for the Hereford game.

I went and watched Chesham lose 1-3 to Banbury tonight, Danny Talbot [joint manager] has left Chesham to take up a position as first team scout for Fulham fc no less ! Nice to have connections !

Chesham look like they will struggle with the side they currently have.

Banbury had a good mix of young players and very experienced ones and they are likely to be one of Slough's title rivals. Neither side were that good on the night but Banbury always looked like they could step up another level and were more threatening up front, to what a rather tame Chesham side offered.

What was puzzling from a Slough angle, was where was Alan Inns again? Is he still injured?

Thought he would have been involved tonight.

Nice to see Josh Jackman got on the scoreboard. How did he play?

Knee jerk or what!

We win one game - we will win others this season - that's reality.

We will however over the course of the next 44 games (the season is 46 games and not just the two on the 12th & 15th August) lose less games than we win.

It's true that all things being equal we will win more than we lose but if we want to win the league we can't afford more than 6 defeats so roughly one every eight games. Good teams don't get beat very often and grab draws when they should lose.

Last season we lost too many games not because we were not good enough but we were not smart enough. The managers tried a different tactic against Kettering and it did not pay off. Against a weak Gosport side anything was probably going to be fine. But what of the next game.

I think this is a real tough season for Jon and Neil. Play to our strengths and we will probably get a similar result to last year and make the lower end of the play offs. But take a chance, mix it up , challenge the players to perform different tactics and formations and we could be contenders for the top spots.

Very good response against admittedly a poorly organised Gosport defence. From the off we dominated much of the ball with early goal obviously a vital boost to our confidence.

Turner made an important save halfway through the 1st half when I believe score was still 1-0 but Gosport rarely troubled in first half

Once floody headed the 2nd it was attack after attack for us with few very near misses

Inevitably Gosport came out 2nd half a bit more positively and did grab a scrappy goal after decent buildup. We probably should have dealt with it but credit to the boys we kicked on and got the pen quickly after. From there Gosport didn't particularly come close to scoring again

Got to stage that most our team realised a goal was there for the taking and up pops Jackman to fire home. Once sub's were mad the game fizzled out a bit with the game won before dobbos great late goal.

Much like we didn't overreact from Kettering important we don't get carried away with this win. We go to Hereford confident we can get a good result

As a matter of interest, how is Harrison Gilkes progressing? Happened to see him running about at the Kettering match and just wondered when he will be back.

It will be like having a new player, when he gets back fit, and will give us even more attacking options.

Is he likely to go out on loan to get match sharpness?

We will have to hope that Gosport dont have to do a Hereford United Its always sad to see a fellow NL club in so much trouble Last Friday yet another winding up order was served ( I believe the 5th) Their main debts are to Revenue and the ground owners The new chairman hopes to be able to sort it but they have a very much reduced budget which has led to the inexperienced young team ( but much cheaper) they are forced to play
