v Kettering

As someone who is not at afraid to give a keeper stick I totally agree with you Michaelstfc however what was happening yesterday was beyond what I would deem acceptable. As an example as the second goal went in, the keeper had a drink whilst many of our fans, most with children were leaving. Someone shouted at him that his ugly face was scaring the kids away (perfectly humerous and something I would possibly say) but then someone else proceeded to call him a c**t - such language which is almost certain to be a reason these kids don't return as opposed to the keepers face.

In regards of the noise, I can't disagree that it was quiet yesterday. Whilst I don't believe we should only make noise when playing well, I do find it difficult to promote continuous chanting when the play is almost exclusively in our defensive half - as it was for much of the first half. The energy to an extent does have to work both ways from players to fans and visa versa.

Unfortunately this person probably don't read this forum

A supporter confronting him or others could cause more trouble plus the person(s) wouldn't take any notice would they? Whereas the safety officer/head steward having a word would have more weight as they have the power to eject if they don't heed the warning. As someone mentioned this sort of behaviour/language could certainly put off children/families coming again if they witness this.

Which is strange as I thought they were fitter than us too.

C'est la vie, I did not think Kettering was fitter. I thought they out muscled us in midfield and Floody seemed to be in a losing battle against their centre halves but I don't put this down to fitness.

Credit to Kettering they shut our players down quick and pressed a high line.

My view was that some of our players seemed confused as to what position they were supposed to be playing and because of this became ragged in their efforts to keep Kettering at bay and found it hard to get our offensive play going.

I must admit I was bamboozled by our shape first half. I was expecting a 4-3-2-1 when I heard the line up,with Matt Lench and Warren Harris pushing up to support Chris Flood either side of him,and Sean Fraser playing the holding role in midfield but that didn't materialise.

I think the Slough fans, players and managers were glad to see half time !

Least the second half we saw an improvement but unfortunately not any points.

Think tomorrow night we will see a vastly better performance, well I'm crossing my fingers for it !  :)

Althogh I believe Dunn and Lench are both excellent players. they are also very similar players and I have not seen them gel together yet. Where is Lench best position? out wide or central midfield?

Very early days for Matt Lench. Think we have to allow time for the new players to bed in.

Think both players got frustrated with how the Kettering game was going. Matt Lench appeared to gee up Simon Dunn on Simon's play but I thought it was the pot calling the kettle black !

Neither player had a good game on Saturday but in the main I think you can level that at the whole team's performance.

I think we should bide our time with Matt Lench. In the Hitchin team he knew he had a solid team of battlers around him and with him being probably their best flair player he could shine.

At Slough it's totally different,we have better football players IMO and try to play passing football  unlike the hurry and hassle them Hitchin side, but our managers expect players to put in hard working performances and not look for easy rides. I thought Saturday, too many players expected other players to do the hard work and so ended up not doing enough themselves, and thus as a team we played like a bunch of individuals and were rightly beaten by a well organized, physical Kettering side.

On the day we looked like a newly formed side together.

Let's hope tonight we don't.
