Chairman's statement

Whoever follow's Steve, as our chairman, will have big boots to fill.

Gutted that he wants to leave, as he's done a such fantastic job since he's been at the club but of course he must have his reasons.

I'm sure all Slough supporters appreciate what his sterling guidance has done for the club and us fans.

Huge blow !     .......and just when everything was looking so rosy for now and the future.

This feels like a kick right in the nether regions ! ! :(

Just felt something was missing from the end of his statement, something along the lines of... even though I'm stepping down I will continue to fund the club until a new Chairman/owner is found OR we are in negotiations with a new investor(s) who have the means to push the club further up the leagues. Or simply say more news will be forthcoming! Just seems a bit of a downer that if we had to rely on match day money only then I think it's fair to say we couldn't afford the squad we currently have.

Bakes and Unders are going to be as gutted as much as us fans,as it's come out the blue,as even last night on the radio forum they were talking about working with Steve longer.

One thing is certain if Steve steps down,he will leave the club in a much better condition, to the one he took over all those years ago.

Slough, now, look a great proposition for investment.

Still gutted to see him go.though.

Mindless speculation is not called for, as I am sure Steve will inform us of the facts in his own good time.

As usual the knee jerk reaction to post twaddle by some will only lead to misinformation and untruths circulating.

Time to be patient and let the formal communications provide the true information.

The comments are perfectly natural reaction to a pretty big statement. As I said if some words of comfort were added to the end then it would have reassured everyone. As it stands the club has Steve's funding for just this season. I'm sure talks are/will be taking place through the season and yes the club is a much more attractive proposition now (largely thanks to Steve) and we must hope someone sees us a great opportunity to invest in.

Without Steve there may not be the current Slough Town. He took the club from near death to now where it is as strong as the club has ever been with a ground back in Slough and a team looking at possible promotion and attendances back on the up.

The club has got some fantastic people running it and leading us forward and getting Slough Town back in touch with the Town and the community.

As the statement says, this season is completely covered and financially secure. Steve is no idiot and whenever he hands over the club he will make sure it is to someone who will look after it and not treat it like a toy. Anyone who doubts Steve Easterbrook needs to have a long hard look at themselves.

No one can or is doubting what Steve has done, that's obvious to see. Yes of course he wouldn't after all these years just walk out, just the statement has been left open to interpretation, that's all! But I shall wait as I'm sure further news will be forthcoming.

Perhaps Watford FC need a new chairman?I agree that the statement is ambivalent at the end but that is Steves right Perhaps his future business ambitions are involved Im sure we will learn in due course We need to thank him for all he has done and wish him well in the future.Im sure of one thing no one person ever has been or ever will be more important than our club!

I think the most interesting point will be Steves relationship re Thames Valley Sport and Leisure This company owns Slough Town FC and is controlled by Steve (I just looked on the club website to confirm this hasnt been altered)

steve  and his family have put a lot of time and effort into the club i'm sure he would not leave us in the lurch, when he says everything is in place i'm sure tha the has thought things through and has someone or something in mind to push slough town onwards and upwards, i shall be sorry to see him go but feel sure he will be a regular visitor. ^_^
