All time 11

OK, this is a very difficult one, but maybe (for some of the newer fans of the club or forum), who would be our most famous 11? As in those that played at the highest level either before or after playing for us.

Would the following be amongst the most famous 11:-

Graham Roberts (Tottenham, Rangers, Chelsea 1980-90)

Kenny Sansom (Arsenal 1980-88)

Eric Young (Wimbledon & Crystal Palace 1987-95)

Micky Droy (Chelsea 1970-84)

Tommy Langley (Chelsea 1974-80)

Brian McDermott (Arsenal 1979-84)

Lloyd Owusu (Sheffield Wednesday & Brentford 1998-2004)

Garath McCleary (Nottingham Forest & Reading 2008-present)

Who else would you add to this list?

Dave Kemp.

Banny - this was the player I was referring to regarding the ridiculous long-range own goal at Dagenham. It was hit back from way out with no real pressure from Dagenham and caught Trevor Porter completely unawares. As he flung himself despairingly at the ball he was heard to cry out  "- - --!" Interpret that as you will. Apologies to Rebel 1965 for the use of "rose tinted spectacles".

Phil Beal one of our worst ever signings. Turned up match day. got his kit on. done nothing went home.

His 19 appearances for Slough in 1977-8 season aren't listed on his Wiki page, which might indicate that he wasn't particular proud of his performances for us...... but he must be one of the most, if not the highest, profile player ever to play for us with two League Cup winners medals, a UEFA Cup winners and runners up medal during over 400 appearances for Tottenham between 1963 & 1975.

To be honest, I had no idea he had ever played for us.

Born Slough

One of the coolest defenders I have seen. Still comes to Arbour Park  to watch some games.

Played 55 times for Slough

Years Team Apps (Gls) 1982–1985 Watford 0 (0) 1985–1988 Peterborough United 137 (2) 1988–1991 Leicester City 88 (3) 1991–1992 Notts County 42 (1)   Slough Town  1982, 1995-1997   Total   267 (6)

Big John Delaney, local lad playing for local teams before joining Slough, nearly 250 appearances for Slough scoring over 50 goals, not a bad ratio for a centre half. later moved to Wycombe (where he won amatuer caps for England) and Bournemouth. along with Terry (merlin the magician) Reardon two of the finest players i have watched outside of the football league.

Played in the school rugby team with Jimmy he was one of our best players. Played his football the same way as his rugby days strong in a tackle strong on the ball. (think he had county trials for U15s rugby) Done us a favour v Scarboro cup replay when we were struggling to get 11 fit players out. John Beyer also came out of retirement (was playing sundays )

Alan Harding was also a good player in said rugby team

the leatherhead lip Agree with you re John Delaney Very few people know that he joined for the 63/64 season as 1st team goalie 1st game was away to Leatherhead and he played poorly in a 4-1 defeat The rest is history.I also used to watch him play for Horlicks whose pitch was at the bottom of my garden at the time.

Also think I remember Delaney playing for the White Horse pub Cippenham on Sunday mornings.

In those days a lot of players who played for clubs like Slough also played on a Sunday morning for a few quid.

John Richie and Peter Cruise to Arsenal left after the Berks and Bucks Final played at Maidenhead where we were losing with only a few minutes left and came back to win it.

Paul Hardyman played for Sunderland in the 1992 Cup Final in a 2 nil lose to Liverpool.
