cockfosters beating Risborough on pens.

If ever I've seen a game where the under dog was more derserving of victory it was last night.

Risborough 2 down at halftime, showing amazing character to brining it back to 2-2 and having a lot of chances to win. Even the sun shines on a dogs arse some days!

I was at the Leverstock Green v Edgware replay last night.  A game that Levy should have won, they were by far the more skilful and pacy side.  However, they paid the price for not having a specialist keeper playing (a midfielder wore the gloves last night, due to the club not having a registered keeper available).  Actually, that's not quite true, their CF last night is an ex pro keeper who doesn't play in goal anymore.  Work that out if you can?

Anyway, that isn't the story.  6 minutes into injury time and with Edgware winning 3-2, the Levy left back went down injured.  It was a serious injury (diagnosed later in hospital as a cracked bone and ligament damage), so an ambulance was called.  Shockingly (and becoming much more common these days), they were told an ambulance wouldn't be available for at least 2 hours.  Despite there being only around a minute left to play according to the ref's watch, because the player was unable to be moved on medical advice, the game was abandoned.  It falls to the FA now to decide what happens next.  Replay or award the match with the score standing.

There is a bigger issue here.  Why are players in need of medical treatment not given a higher priority for ambulance cover?  Apparently, according to Levy's twitter this morning, "Ambulance did not come at all at mid night medic on phone advised us how to move him and his family took him to A and E".

Surely the football authorities should be addressing this on behalf of our players?

The number of Ambulances hasnt gone up with the number of people living in this country waiting times are only going to get longer as the NHS crumbles under the ever growing pressure put on it.

You'll probably find that the number of ambulances has actually gone down, that's why you see so many "First Responder" cars and motorbikes out and about.  But with Hemel hospital just 3 miles away, Watford less than 10 and Luton & Dunstable 11 miles away, there should have been some form of emergency response within the 2½ hours before the club were told one wasn't available and advised to transport him by car.

A shocking indictment on the NHS these days, good job it wasn't a more serious injury.

Still waiting for the FA to decide what is going to happen. Should have won on Saturday too, when Edgware scored in the last few seconds. We should have won both games. Lost both full backs on Tuesday due to injury. And the league season has not started yet.

Making cut backs to the NHS is only going to make it worse and struggle more.
