Starting 11 for Kettering

Recommended Posts

I think It's true to say that predicting/selecting the starting 11 for the Kettering game is almost an impossibility but IMO the following players will be definite starters:

Jack Turner

George Wells

Simon Dunn

Matt Lench

Chris Flood

Manny Williams

Warren Harris

IMO the above players will start regardless of what formation we play.

I think the other 4 starters are any ones guess.

Inns looked good today..... very difficult to choose two from Hollis, Inns and Nisbet.

I would be surprised if Lench isn't selected on the left when the options of Dunn, Webb and Fraser are available in the middle (and then there's Togwell, but I can't see him starting next week after being away for the last few weeks).

I think Manny will start, but will probably play 60 minutes and then be replaced by fresh legs of Wadkins or James.

Harris looked in good form against WBA and also again today..... I wouldn't be surprised if he started on the right.

I would have thought right back would be Smart or Fraser, but Jackman has played well and could possibly be in with a shout.

You'd have to include Dobbo surely being our top scorer last season and having a great pre-season?

I'd question that last part, seen four of the pre season games and have found his performances curious, to be kind. That said , he's scored in those I haven't seen!

Pretty much agree with Reading Rebel.

Lenchy playing down the left will surely depend on whether Dobbo plays?

Talking to supporters we all pick a different team, the team is a lot stronger this season so hard call for managers who will have to keep everyone happy

Its so hard to pick an 11. Assuming we go 4-4-2 at home I think it will line up something like this but agree that is so hard to call as the options are all quite pleasing and plausible. Also having listed the below think that it could quite easily be very different and wouldn't feel that to be unreasonable, for me only 5 or 6 are g'teed. Of the pre season games I've seen think everybody has played well and all will rightly be expecting a game. Glad im not bakes and Unders!! Also players like Inns and Togs who have missed some games, once back up to speed would be hoping for a start - tough decisions and as others have said some disappointed players.

                                      Turner

        ???.......Hollis..............Smart...............Wells

        Harris..........Webb............Dunn............Lench

                              Williams   Flood

I would start the Kettering game with 4-4-2 of

                                        Turner

                     Fraser   Hollis     Nisbit   Wells

                     Harris   Dunn    Webb   Lench

                                 Flood    James

Subs Jackman, Inns,  Dobson, Williams, Watkins.

That way we can keep in tight for the first 45 minutes but still be a handful for Kettering but come the 2nd half,if we haven't got a grip of the game, I would go adventurous and bring Manny Williams and Dobbo on then tinker with the formation slightly.

To me,it isn't just what we do, it's what Kettering does in terms of their shape and how they are going to play away from home. With this in mind, is why I would start with an orthodox 4-4-2.

What's brilliant this season is all our squad are good enough for the first eleven, something we haven't had the luxury of for years and all of them can slot in whatever formation we want to play.

This Saturday Nathan Smart and Lee Togwell would miss out for me but both would get chances to feature in upcoming matches, especially if we do not get into the rhythm of winning games.

As wer're playing on 3g Satuday I wouldn't rush to play Alan Inns.Probably use him in the first eleven for the Hereford game.
